I have a slide from 1927 and would like to find a frame from the same era. Okay, so I guess I believe in Santa Claus too, but I figured if anyone would have a lead on a frame of that period, this highly-informed group of enthusiasts would be the place to start. Any advice would be welcomed!

I have it on a good rumor there is more then one on the bottom of the Pacific just off the coast of Iceland, sunk in early WWII.

Other then that?

Good luck!

My recommndation? Sell the slide on ebay, take the money and put the additional amount with it and scout on gunbroker for the next year, and buy a complete and correct post WWI, pre WWII commercial 1911A1 Government model. You'll have a nice piece of history, and one of the nicest Colt Governments ever made.

Oh I'll probably end up listing on ebay but it's worth seeing if something turns up.

Pre WWII commercial frames are seldom found, and even if they are, they might be altered, with lots of parts changed out. I'd say your chances of locating anything remotely correct for the slide will be about 5-10%.
