Does anyone here have a 308 super vepr with a molot top mount? I'm curious how repeatable is the zero on it?

Not a direct reply to your question, but on my regular 308 VEPR, I have several UTGs with different scopes that all seem to return to zero very well. The 2 Molots I bought had build flaws, and I didn't want to use them. Of the side mounts I bought, only the UTGs lined up dead center with tight but sufficient clearance over the dust cover (enough to remove the dust cover with scope in place).

thanks for the infor, I was wondering about the utg's as well. right now I have my eye on one that uses the original top mount (instead of side mount) and is really low, so much so that you have to remove it to take the dust cover off, if the zero is VERY repeatable I will get that one so I don't have to deel with cheek risers and such.

as far as the molot one you mentioned, I understand it is a little higher but did it at least mount center?

+1 on the UTG mounts. They're excellent, and much better than the BP-02 mounts. They're lighter weight, have a longer rail, and cost a fraction of the price. They also hold up extremely well.

the vepr supers side rail is outside of the wood stock so i can't help but feel like I would end up with a scope mount that does not sit center with the rifle, would this be the case?

just found the answer, they will all be offset unless I modify the mount :/

I just want something that sits low and center with the rifle that will out last me, is that so much to ask?...

I measured the following off of my VEPR:

Height over the receiver is 14.79mm from the top of the dust cover to the outside angled edge of the picatinny rail (not the very top)

Thickness of the side mount plate, not including the dovetail, 4.04mm

Total width of the receiver, 34.21mm

For me, only the UTGs lined up over center. Return to zero has been good, but I've only tested it a few times at the range, and only out to 200 yards.

I understand that part (thanks for the measurements though). what I am saying however, mosk ak style rifles have the side mount dircetly mounted to the receiver, where as the super vepr I am looking at has a one piece stock, so the mount is on the outside of the stock so it adds additional width to the rifle which means the mount is farther away from the center of the rifle.

long story short, and side mount (even one that would be centered on a saiga or ak) will now be off to the left of the centerline.
