I am trying to find some quality training in Ohio, or perhaps a neighboring state. Any recommendations? I have heard of Tactical Defense Institute in Southern Ohio, but know nothing of them. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi, armed, I took a Chuck Taylor class in Marysville, Ohio last September. Isn't Hackathorn from Southern Ohio?

Give Shawn Dodson a call or look at Uncle Chuckie's website. I think LFI does stuff there sometimes, usually LFI-I.

www.tdiohio.com is the website for John Benner's school.

By all reports, John is offering a top-notch integrated program. TDI offers training in unarmed skills, defensive knife, pistol, shotgun and rifle. I haven't trained with TDI yet, but am heading up there in June for there Level IV and V handgun classes.

If you live in Ohio, TDI is the hot ticket for training. And his prices are below "scale" for the quality of training that he's offering. (Typically, top-quality training from a mobile trainer runs $150 per day or $300 for a weekend class, TDI asks $140 per training day.)

If you haven't trained with TDI by June, I'll be happy to post my impressions after the class.

I've taken a couple courses at Hocking College, sponsored by the National Ranger Training Institute, and it's Director, Bill DeWeese, with Defense Training International(DTI), John and Vicki Farnam's company. I've been very impressed with the DTI training, instructors, and philosophy. DTI is teaching several courses in Nelsonville this year, check the schedule at www.defense-training.com. I'll be training down there again this year, hopefully for all the classes.

Steve Barron of Hocking College's police academy teaches classes in Applegate style combat shooting. Barron was evidently a student of Applegate before Applegate passed. I know a guy who took a course and he was very impressed with it.

I'm not totally familiar with all the names and places of the training world yet. I've heard the name of Chuck Taylor, but don't know the website address for him.

Thanks for the info on TDI. I just might give them a try maybe in April.

Even though I've been around guns most of my life, I know that I am not even close to being proficient in the personal protection or concealed carry arena. I "aim" to change that with some professional training.

Thanks again for the info.
