My wife is a sometimes hunter and target shooter. Every now and then she likes to hit the range or woods with me, but not enough to justify the cost of her own, dedicated guns.

I'm considering having a couple of my wood-stocked guns modified to be adjustable for LOP (her optimum is a shade under 13" and mine is more than 14"). This would allow us both to use some of the same guns without too much trouble.

Any ballpark figures on how much it would cost to have this done by a qualified professional? I'm sure I would make a mess of things if I attempted to make the modifications myself. I'm not handy:o

Check Midway USA online for 'Graco adjustable buttplate', the unit adjusts for length, drop and angle for $68 plus the cost of installation. Gunsmith job consists of cutting the stock shorter, boring the hole for the rod that holds the buttplate, and cutting the mounting plate down to match the stock dimensions.

I've got a similar plate on an old Remington .22 rim fire target rifle, works very well to get optimum fit.

IMHO
