Back about a month or so I bought a new Marlin XT 17HMR. Brought it home, disassembled, cleaned and adjusted the trigger pull to just about 3lb pull then buttoned it up and put in gun cabinet. With health issue of my wife and a few of my own I basically forgot about it until today. Broke it out and loaded up four mags for it, went to open bolt on rifle and thought I'd have to use a hammer to open the darn thing. I disassembled backtracking what I had done before I put it up, while out of stock the bolt functioned perfect, in the stock it locked up again. I backed off the back assembly bolt and then the bolt operated smooth as you could as for. I never over torque anything because when I was in my early 20's I made the mistake of wringing too many bolts off. Right now I left it as is but was thinking that maybe one or two washers between stock and rifle might solve this problem. What would be the general consensuses on this issue.
Now to shooting the 17, it took me three rounds to putting rounds into a dime size hole and if I could hold the rifle on target without shaking like a leaf it will stack the rounds and with adjustable trigger pull this is going to be my goto gun for varmints or showing off shooting paper.

Was the bolt this hard to operate before you disassembled?
