"This American Life', a radio series on NPR, which for the most part is pretty good, painting audio portraits of America, is having a show tomorrow dedicated to Americans' relationship with firearms. I'm a little apprehensive. While NPR's news coverage is pretty balanced, their editorial content leans REALLY far to the left. A fact I'm sure you're all familiar with. In any event, good or bad, it's on tomorrow evening (Fri 3/5) at 7PM Eastern. I figure I'll listen in

If it's this one:

Guns. Stories about guns, and the special hold they have on the American imagination.

============

It's an old episode. Most of the segments lean to the anti side, as you'd expect from leftists based out of Chicago. But there were some good bits, and some insight into the bizarre minds of antis. Such as when one commentator explains how she views firearms as the Devil. The demon gun instead of the demon rum.

I was actually interviewed for a sequel to this show, about two years ago now. But for one reason or another the show never materialized. It was to show alternative POV's on firearms. I ended up talking the poor guy's ear off about the relative merits of European vs. American cartridges and the arcane world of cartridge names. I doubt I would have been included even if they had produced the sequel :D

That's the one, I recognize the tag line from the blurb on the radio today. Didn't realize it's a repeat, must've missed it the first time around.

Sounds entertaining, though...

Don't expect balanced or fair from NPR, they have been on the far left for quite some time.

I would expect some statistics right from the MMM and Fienstien/Boxer camp will get spread around as facts, instead of the horse manure it is.

If you listen keep us posted, it would be refreshing to be proved wrong.

Although This American Life airs on NPR it is not produced by them. That is an important distinction to make.

The main web site for the program is -

http://www.thislife.org/

And the particular show you are discussing is archived and can be listened to online here. (http://207.70.82.73/pages/descriptions/97/81.html)

listened to the whole thing.

Lots of the negative aspects with some sense from Susanna Gratia-Hupp.

An interview withan anti from a pro gun family and an interview with a convicted straw purchaser.

The interviewer seemed to be fairly non biased but the choice of people they interviewed was skewed.

Typical leftist POS show. 90% slanted against responsible gun ownership. All of the segments except for 1/2 of one (the Luby's incident) portray guns as basically a plague upon the land, evil weeds better rooted out and destroyted, good for nothing but causing pain and death.
