Bersas

Was just wondering, has Bersa's stock risen lately, last time I checked, they were considered a low echelon type handgun. Has their reputation gotten better over the years, the reason I ask is because I just got one and can find no faults with it. Thanks.

You don't say what model you have. I've had a Thunder 380 since 2008, and it was sued when I got it. I was very impressed with it, feeding it all kinds of ammo, including stuff I had that was more than two decades old at the time. Even mixed up stuff in the mags. Could not make this thing malfunction. Excellent trigger pull, particularly in DA mode, and easy to keep on POA out to 15 yards or more.
Carried it as an EDC for about two years, then stumbled on a deal on a secondhand PF9 (Kel-Tec), which has all but replaced the Bersa in that role. But the Bersa is the much-more enjoyable shooter.

I bought a Bersa Thunder 9 UC Pro in 2009 and loved it. Had to sell it earlier this year to make a move for a job that didn't pan out. Loved that pistol. Comfortable, accurate, reliable, easy to use and easy to field strip. Did I mention how accurate it was? Constant 2"+- groups at 25-30 yards using one hand. Never any sort of problem in well over 3000 rounds of various type, weight, and manufacture of ammunition.
To be honest with ya', I'm more upset about selling the Bersa than I am my about selling my Springfield EMP .40 and the job not working out

Since when has the Bersa had a bad reputation?

Bersas have been excellent handgunds for many many years (if not decades) but finally perception is catching up with reality and prices are rising accordingly giving to Bersa the credit they richly (in my opinion) deserve.
The times of the excellent full size Thunder 9, 40 or 45 that could be had new for ~300 out of the door are long gone at least around here....
I often compared Bersa to what CZ was in the 70's, 80's....very goods guns at low price for lack of perception (and marketing/advertisement)....but, again, things have finally changed for the Argentinian company.

I have never owned one but have sold several. Never had one come back. I could carry one without remorse.

I had a thunder 380 at one point in time. I sold it when I need money for my buckmark. It would not strip a round from the magazine. Probably magazine related as I only had one mag.

There used to be a member here that absolutely HATED Bersas of any kind. He took every opportunity he could to run them down and insult people that owned them. Sure don't miss him any.
I have a Thunder 380 myself, and I like it just fine. I just wish I could get out and shoot it more often.

I purchased 2 Bersa 380's for my daughters. No problems with either gun as they run very well. Heck, I've had to send a Dan Wesson PM-7 back to the factory for work under warranty, but, not Bersa.

I loved my Bersa Thunder 380 CC. It was a very nice gun for $275. Traded when I picked up a Ruger SR9c. Wish I'd traded something else.

Ive got the Thunder in 380, and 22. I like both, alot. The 22 is nickle, the 380 is blued. The blue one has a couple blemishes in the matte finish, probably shipping damage. I wish I could get a gloss blued one, like the discontinued Deluxe. One thing I found was the Deluxe 9 shot mag works in the 7 shot Thunder. So, 9+1, Crimson Trace Grip, and I got a great house gun for my recoil shy wife.

I think the price is going up because people are realizing what a great gun Bersa makes. Had a thunder .380 that I sold to my brother because he needed a gun for his wife. If she ever out-grows it it's mine agian.:D

I never owned, or shot a Bersa. It was always know as a "cheaper" gun.
Last year a lady student of mine bought a Bersa .380. I don't know the model.
I have to say I'm impressed. I would have no reservations at all buying one from what I've seen with this one gun and the good reputation the Bersa has now days.

I don't think "cheaper" is a good description, but maybe "less expensive" would be better.:)

Regret selling my Thunder 9. A very good pistol that came at a low price.

They're more "budget" or "value for the money" than "low echelon."

I have had a Thunder .380 for about 8yrs. One or two stovepipes in all that time. All in all, a decent lil gun for the $$

Bersa Hand guns have quite a loyal following. I had a .BT.380 for a while and thought it was a pretty nice little pistol.

I have the FireStorm mini 9 version (rounded trigger guard) of the Bersa. Have had it for 6 years and lots of rounds. It's been perfect.
This gun has the BEST double action trigger of any pistol I've shot. Buttery smooth with absolutely no stacking. It's as good if not better than my S&W DOA model 64 38spl.
The reset on single action is the shortest of any of my other pistols, equal to if not better than my S&W 6904, light and crisp. Yeah, I like the gun.
I've seen a lot of distractors of Bersa post in various forums, my guess is they never held, let alone, fired one.

Have carried my old stainless UC45 for more than a decade with many thousands of rounds, never a single issue. Having a hard time retiring it in favor of my brand new XDs.

I have the Firestorm Mini .40. I have close to 6,000 rds through it without a failure, burp, hiccup of any sort, with some of the raunchiest ammo I can find. I believe that I could whittle out .40 S&W sticks, and this thing would feed a mag full of 'em

My Bersa BP9cc is a keeper! Light trigger pull, very thin (easy to conceal), and inexpensive.

Another Bersa fan here. I bought a Thunder for my daughter a number of years ago and was very impressed.
I suppose they get a bad reputation because so many people think that you get what you pay for. I'm curious, if Glocks sold for $300, would people think less of them too?

My wife and I have matching, consecutive serial numbered, Thunder 380's in Duo-Tone from 2004. These are both from a batch where the slides were not heat-treated correctly, and, after many rounds, the slide catch notch rounds and the slide will not lock on the last round. Many of the 380s from this time had this issue and the factory fixed them without any issues. I still need to get mine fixed, as I never got around to shipping them off for the warranty work. They really were not what I was hoping for, so they've been sitting in the safe since about 2005 and haven't been shot since.

I haven't shot mine nearly as much as I should, but it only cost me $230 brand-new, and it's a pre-lock. Can't kick about that.
