[Kentucky Rifle]

I'm liking this Galco "Ankle Glove" more and more. I also put this post in the "Revolver Section" because an "AirLite Revolver" is what I had in mind when I bought this holster. I'm delighted to be able to wear my 12 oz. S&W model 331 in this thing all day long~~WITH NO PAIN! I have an all cloth Desantis ankle holster, but after a couple of hours, the pain would begin. ("Renegade"? Maybe~that was what the model is.) The good thing about the Renegade is that it will fit several pistols. The bad thing is that even with only the weight of P-32, it always begins to hurt at the two hour mark.
I just wondered how many of us use ankle carry as an every day thing. (Primary or back up.)

I carry a Glock 27 for about 11 hours a day, four days a week in a Galco Ankle Glove. The G27 loaded weighs in at 27 ounces.
I honestly don't even notice it anymore.
I have tried other cheaper holsters and they have been painful.
I have not tried any of the other high end holster makers, since I am so happy with Galco.

I tried ankle holsters about 15 years ago and they drove me nuts. Never could get used to it.

Should I take another look at them now that there have been some improvements?

I use to wear one at my old job ,But where I work now we wear shorts mostly as our uniform. So no use anymore.:(

I ankle carry daily, usually for just a few hours in the evening, either a 442 in a renegade or colt mustang in an allessi, both are very comfortable but i prefer the renegade.

I think I now know what my problem was. I got my Renegade off the North American Arms site when they had it as one of their monthly specials. The Renegade I purchased doesn't have the sheep skin "leg protector". I think without that, it hurts my leg. I think I'll try (I believe I'm right here.) one of those "Ankle Pocket" brand holsters. I like the fact that I could wear it three ways. One of the "ways" even covers up the pistol completely. Really stealthy. I like that. However, I'm REALLY liking this Galco. The retired Cop who sold it to me (10% off too. "Will, you buy SO much stuff here, from now on you get a 10% discount". HUmmmm.) told me that he kept his 638 in his Galco and had ran after a "bad guy" several times. The holster kept it's place on his leg. That's a pretty good recommendation.

I've had good luck with Galco too. In fact, every Galco item that I've ever purchased has been just great. I think you'd like this Galco Ankle Glove. It's very adjustable (big velcro attachment on "stretchy" material) and has a nice fitting leather holster *made for the particular pistol you wish to carry. There's also a nice, not too thick, layer of sheep skin that is located under the holster and rests against your sock. Ankle holsters have hurt my leg in the past too. I guess we're both sensitive down there. There was a time in my life that an ankle holster couldn't have hurt my leg...but, you know, we get older and softer I guess. I'm pleased with this thing. Another good part was the price. While not inexpensive, it's LESS expensive than a lot of ankle holsters I've seen. I consider it a "good deal".
I realize it's wrong, in ths state (and maybe everywhere else) to "sneak" a small pistol into a gun show, but I usually do. THAT will be much easier now with a comfortable ankle holster. I know that I shouldn't do this, but I am armed 24/7. I figure with "Murphy" and all~~the only time I'm going to NEED a gun is when I don't HAVE a gun on me. <shrug>

I recently purchased a DeSantis "Die Hard" (pleather with a neoprene band, thumbbreak snap and tension device).

I chose this because I worried about running or fighting with someone (the gun, a 337PD is an on-duty back-up weapon) I would see the thing skipping across the ground if the snap came undone. The tension device would prevent this.

This holster is VERY comfortable, and with such a light weapon (10.7oz), you literally forget it's there. This is after years of intermittent carrying of an old .38 model 60 in a no-name (but not all that bad) ankle holster.

I also have the leather DeSantis with the pull-the-strap-through-the-D-ring velcro strap. This is fairly comfortable too.

I usually carry a Walther PPK in a DeSantis or Fobus ankle holster off-duty (Gen-X-er, always wearing those nylon work-out pants, no belt!)
