I was all thumbs swaping out the barrel for my R1 Remington but it was well worth it.

What was the problem?

Every R1 test I have seen showed match grade accuracy right out of the box.

Yeah, it was first class when I first got it then I frigged up the gun. Now I have my R1 back to factory shape and I am very happy.

Inquiring minds want to know what you can do to ruin a 1911 barrel.

A Bullseye shooter bud of mine sends every pistol off to Clark's for work. They refused to replace the R1 barrel because they said it was just as good as one of their custom barrels.

Too bad you broke yours.

How did you do it?

I was shooting in a local competition with 3 others and I had a squib. I shot over top of it because I thought it was soft load.... Well I won't make that mistake again :(

RCmodel,

I was shooting in a local competition with 3 others and I had a squib. I shot over top of it because I thought it was soft load and figured it hit the target. Lots of rounds going off and I had little experience at the time. Well I won't make that mistake again!

The R1 barrels are top notch!

It still seems unclear what you did with the barrel...

Sounds to me like he blew it up by shooting with an obstructed bore caused by failure to check after having a squib.
