Getting ready to start loading some 7.62x39 cartridges for my CZ 527 carbine I would like to try some speer 130g hollow points but I cant find any load data for theese bullets. Any thoughts or ideas that could get me headed in the right direction? Would really like to try theese bullets but have no idea about what powder or weight.

Hmmmmm?

The only 7.62x39 bullet Speer makes is a 125 grain SP, and it is .311" dia..

My Lyman #49 manual has data for a Hornady 130 grain, which you can use interchangeably with the 130 Speer.

And both sets of Hornady manuals do to.

Or, Hodgdon has data for a 125 & 150.
Split the difference of the starting loads, and work up, as you should always do anyway.

But I would expect expansion to be less then stellar because the Speer 130 .308" HP is designed for 30-06 / .300 Mag velocity, and your 7.62x39 isn't gonna get it going quite that fast.

As rcmodel mentioned, expansion may be marginal as well as the accuracy using a .308 in a .310-.311 bore.
Hornady makes a decent .310 SP bullet that is designed to function at the 7.62x39 velocities.

I had an SKS a few years ago and I used Rel-7 with some milspec 125gr bullets.

Here's a link to the Alliant powder site. Drop the listed max load by a couple grains and work up.

Have not had the barrel slugged yet, but im pretty sure its .308 bore. The Speer 130 hp PN# 2005 bullets im talking about are .308 Dia. I remember reading some where about someone reloading theese for a CZ 527 in 7.62x39 and having good expansion- trouble is the powder they used was 25.5g of ADI 2207 not available in this country as far as I can tell. Have been doing some diggin around the net and from what I can see is that H4198 is a very similar powder. This seems like it would be a great little cartridge for the cz 527 being a sporter (bolt action) rather than the semi-auto platform that this cartridge is indicitive of being developed for.-So onward I will go in my search for the perfect blend between this cartridge and this bullet. ANY info is always welcome.

I guess you'll only know by trying different diameter bullets. Comments that I have seen state that those with the CZ527 in that caliber have slugged their barrels @ .310". I could not find the bore size listed at the CZ site.
www.hodgdon.com has a list of powders that work.

Your CZ has a .310-.311 bore. It will safely shoot the .308 bullets, but accuracy may (most likely) suffer.

I shoot the 130gr Speer HP out of my Custom Mini-30 with excellent accuracy and performance, but mine is a true .308 bore.

What manuals do you have?

The CZ 527 in 7.62x39 has a .311 bore. That info is in the rifle's description so it can use the surplus ammo that's abundant. I have one on order myself and hope to try cast bullets in it as well as jacketed.

For clarification purposes...7.62x39mm loads...
Speer DOES manufacture a .308" diamter, 125 grain bullet. It is the TNT. I use it in my Ruger Mini Thirty powered by AA-1680 powder. This is my general purpose load in my rifle, and I don't use it for deer hunting. Yes, I am aware that the bore of my rifle is .310 -.311 in diameter. It still shoots quite well. My b.s. alarm went off. Hope this info is helpful:)

I don't recall anyone here claiming Speer does not make a .308 125gr bullet! Why the BS Meter??
