Buying 18" 870 Police

Because most people prefer not to go below 18.5" just to be sure, is it really a bad idea to get a stock 18" 870, or is that not an issue since it's a known entity from the factory?

Measured the BATF way, the 18" 870 barrel comes out at a hair under 18.5".

And, I doubt there's that much difference in actual use between these and barrels up to 22" or so.

I agree about there not being much difference. It just seems like most of the Police models with the specs I'm looking for happen to be the 18" models. Actually, I'd really rather have the 20".

Your not the only one. Anyone else know of a 20-24" bead sighted 870 with choke tubes? That would be my idea of the perfect shotgun (for MY purposes).

Some of the Turkey barrels for 870s run 21", a few 23". Both come with tubes. Either can be quite versatile, 3" capable and handy in tighter places.
