barrel installation

Does it matter where the barrel crown ends up when it installed in an action with no front sight? Do the lands have to be in a certain location at the muzzle. Say a 3-6-9-12 o'clock position? Or do ya just torque them on?

It doesn't matter at all if the barrel doesn't have a front sight attached to it.
Or writing on the side of a factory barrel..

That would be an example of indexing - if it mattered but as stated above, of course, it does not.
