There's a lot going on in this update. It breaks down into three parts:

First I'll show how to inlet barrel tennons into the stock on the Track of The Wolf Bucks County flintlock rifle kit.

Then I'll show how to make a special tool to mark barrel pin holes on both sides of the stock. This tool really saved me a lot of angst, and I haven't seen another one like it...doesn't mean it's unique, but I haven't seen one.

Finally, I'll use an R.E. Davis Center to Center drilling fixture on the drill press to drill the pin holes and secure the barrel to the stock.

Getting the barrel pinned to the stock is always a big deal to me. This is the point where I start to feel like a bunch of parts is really turning into a rifle.

Thanks for posting these - I'm definitely getting a much better feel just what's involved in making something like that.

Thanks for that Mike.
I'm gradually preparing myself to build a flinter, and as I dont think I would be allowed a kit over here it's going to have to be a scratch build. Lots to learn, and only one lifetime...
I've found earlier installments interesting, but in this one you have focused on a step that I hadn't expected to be a problem. Not having a machineshop background I had thought that just using a drill press would have been an adequate approach...
Maybe it would - but now I know how to make sure of it!

I agree. Your updates are fascinating to read. Unfortunately they also show that these 'Wolf kits are way beyond my capabilities. I guess I'll have to forget about buying one of their fusil-de-chasse flintlock kits that I was eyeing up. :(
