Today figure out the value of the ammo you use on a monthly basis. Then take that amount and donate it to an organization such as the NRA or other similar organization.

2. Sit down and compose letters to your Local, State and National Representatives then put those letters in an envelope and mail them. This type of communication trumps all except for FTF meetings.

3. Call your local Representatives office to set up a meeting with them or a member of their staff.

4. Follow up after meeting or receiving letters.

5. Find others and form a local group to advocate for your beliefs.

6. If your Mayor belongs to Bloombergs group of Mayors then put together a group to try and change his/her mind or someone to replace them in the next election cycle for that position.

7. If you have a local governing body that is supportive of the Second Amendment then see if you can convince them to pass a Resolution and then send that to your reps at the State and National level.

8. Get in this fight to Save the Bill of Rights.

Save the Bill of Rights (SBR) should be our call to Action because without the Second Amendment there is no Bill of Rights.

This is good. I'll try to get a FTF meeting with my rep.

Good post, however keep in mind snail mail will take considerably longer because security has to make sure it doesn't contain anthrax, etc. An e-mail is also suggested.

Also, donating to the NRA-ILA (not just regular NRA) and other organizations that are our front line is a good idea too.

There is also a new organization that has formed and sent a letter to every Congress member. Seems pretty solid.

http://www.congress.org/news/communicating-with-congress/ offers good advice on letters to Congresscritters as well as an web template to send an email to all your Congresscritters at one time.

Don't wast your time sending letters to Congresscritters who you aren't a constituent. They tend to go straight to the trash. Focus on the ones that represent you, tell them they represent you and that you'll donate time and money to keep the in office if they vote no to any changes to current federal law or policy wrt firearms and you'll donate at least as much time and money working to see they are unseated in the next election supporting their primary and general election opponent.

Here's what I'm sending my elected officials.

I pledge to*donate time and money to keep you in office if you vote NO to any changes to current federal law or policy with respect to firearms.

I pledge to donate at least as much time and money supporting your opponent to see you are unseated in the next primary or general election for any support of changes to current federal law or policy with respect to firearms.

Making legislation in a panic that treats 200 million voters across the nation as if we were criminally insane due to the heinous act of a single criminally insane young man that slaughtered little children is insulting and irrational. Further, it is uncalled for when the 2011 FBI Uniform Crime Report shows violent crime has been trending downward over the past 5 years and that rifles of all types were used in only 2.5% of murders in 2011. Such changes would be a burden on the federal budget, increase the bureaucracy needed to implement the new regulations, impose unreasonable burden on the public.

All this for the misguided and misdirected desire to implement the 20 year plans of some lawmakers that are using the bodies of the children of Sandy Hook elementary as a platform to advance themselves.

I expect you to oppose any further restrictions on firearms and firearms owners.

Well said HSO. We need to make sure they understand we will support them if they stand up for us or support their opponent if they don't.
