I bought my 12 yr old son a Henry .22 mag round barrel for xmas, he has decided he would like a scope for it, it seems to me that the hammer will be difficult to thumb w/scope mounted on it. A little advice would be appreciated, not wild about a highrise ring system any ideas or maybe its not a problem.

Henry hammer extension:

Goes on hammer and sticks off to the right side.
There might have even been one in the box with the trigger lock & junk?

Remove the iron sights and place it farther forward along the barrel. That is what I did with my Marlin 336 and can still operate the hammer just fine.

That will only work if you have a scope with a long enough eye relief you can still see through it that far away from your eye.

Many if not most scopes don't.

get a red dot my friend. i bought one for my 9yo son's Henry. It is so short that no hammer spur is necessary. eye relief is no issue.

check it out.
Put the dot on the target.....put a hole in the target.

I have the same setup on son's rifle except a blued version. less than $50.00. just clamp it on the henry's dovetailed reciever and you're readt to sight in.

+1 to rcmodel.

We have three Henrys that the kids use at the range and all three are equipped with scopes and hammer extenders.
