Please enlighten me......what I know of GOA is limited to what I've heard referenced by different posters....recently had an opportunity to look at the following site www.gunowners.org .....as I was browsing through "other links", I found quite a list of militia's and links like this attached to their web site. http://www.gunsanddope.com/ .....don't mean to step on anyones toes, just curious.

The "Guns And Dope" Party is a hoot! They sound like the Libertarian Party but more casual.

Neither the NRA or GOA are perfect, but i strongly believe everyone of us should be a sustaining member of both.Gun owners of America is NOT a fringe group.

From what I know, GOA and SAF are more likely to help you out...

The Gun Owners of America is what the N.R.A. ought to be.

No. They are a great organization and they don't compromise.

...OK, let's accept the premise they are not fringe....then why would you associate your web site with groups that most people consider fringe?

I don't know, but I'm thinking since they DON'T compromise and care less about being politically correct those fringe groups flock to them. I guess if they pay their dues, they get a link. Someone else probably has a more intelligent answer than I.

Here is the landmark upon which I judge both NRA and GOA.
Recall Columbine when the NRA backed down and did a reduced version of their (legally required) annual meeting. Not only that, but no NRA spokesman was to be seen or heard on the talking head shows.
Instead, there was GOA's Larry Pratt making the pro-freedom case for us on CNN, NBC, etc, etc.

GOA claims 300,000 members out of 274 million Americans (130 million registered voters) and an estimated 44-80 million gun owners.
Even NRA, which is the "big" group, has reached only 4.2 million and is currently closer to 3.6 million.
Whether those constitute a fringe group or not, is usually a matter of personal judgement.

Anti-gunners call the NRA a "fringe" group. Semantics, folks.
It has been a strategy of propagandists to undermine the fundamental essence/being of their opposition so that they can work their audience into a frenzy against their target. Nothing has changed.
