Good luck on that quest. Most places now will not even take a back order "Out of Stock, No Back order".

My best suggestion would be to first find a major reloading component distributor and get some on order with them as long as they will accept a back order. Try large distributors like Powder Valley (http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/) as large retailers will likely see stock first. They are still showing some .224 bullets in stock as of now. What they have will be gone soon I would bet.

Starting to look for them at this point will be an exercise in trying ones patients. That said the above advice is the best I believe also. I have enough ahead to keep me in 223 shooting for 1 - 1 1/2 years before I run out---------that is IF I do not go overboard with my trigger finger. I feel that they will reappear as soon as the makers can ramp up to offset the panic buying that seems to happen with predictable regularity these days. I betcha they cost a bit more then however.:banghead:

Try equipment exchanges on the various gun forums. I've had luck there...

It's not like I don't have anything to shoot but it doesn't hurt to have some supplies on hand either. I have enough to allow me to shoot for awhile and I'm hoping that the supply chain will get filled up again before I really need them. Went to a gun show yesterday and 5.56/223 ammo was going for $800 or more per 1000. This is just getting crazy. One guy was selling Vietnam era 20 round mags for $35 a piece while others were selling 30 round metal mags for $45 and up.

Israeli Military Industries ss109 equivalent are my favorites. Just for kicks, called my regular vendor for them her in the mid south and had no problems buying a 10,000 round bulk bag. If you are getting stalled on small orders, try a big one. Those counts don't sell as quick and they don't like to be out when a power buyer calls.

Thats pretty much the case everywhere, .224 over 50 grains (50, 52, 55, 62, on up) are out just about everywhere.

Was this really that long ago??? While they won't be back to these prices they will be back. Be patient and be part of the solution instead of the ones driving prices up. Then buy in real bulk. See line 3, I did so now we rest easy for life. 900 bucks got you something in those days.
