Repair help Winchester Super X Model 1

I've got gas operated semi auto model. I took it out to clean it for a hunt and cannot the bolt to slide back even after taking the trigger housing out? Is this a common problem? Any tips on why it won't release? Any help would be greatly appreciated?

First things first. Do you have the manual? The section on removing the bolt (after removing the trigger assembly) is marked #18 and #19.
