I have had my Saiga for over 5 years and have yet to do a conversion. I think it is time to do it before any AWB might effect it. So, I want a solid stock that doesn't feel like a toy. I would prefer a folder but a collapsible might have to do. I have seen the fixed type from ace and that certainly is rugged. Do they make a folder for the Saiga? any help with this and other quality parts like triggers group would be much appreciated.

I converted a Saiga about three years ago and used a Tapco G2 trigger group. I've been really happy with how it turned out. I put a collapsible stock on mine but looked at folding mechanisms from Ace Stocks at one point. IIRC, you would have to install a receiver block and whichever folding mechanism works for your needs.

Heres what I got

Tapco trigger=good

JTE mainspring=really nice, I think. I havent bothered to compare the new trigger with the old spring, but the the tapco with the new spring feels about 400x better than the old trigger.

Hogue overmolded grip= meh, ok I guess. Not in love with it. Fine for the price. I'm thinking of trying another grip

UTG stock and adapter=not very good. I still like the adapter, stock isnt much, though.

Get a axis pin retention plate, its worth the money

Dont get a 45$ trigger guard, its not worth the money. Just dont screw up your old guard when taking it off and reuse it.

I haven't tried any modifications to the trigger other than the Tapco. I'm getting ready to wrench on it again soon; if there's enough left in the budget maybe I'll try a couple things in the trigger. I can't recall if my stock adaptor is UTG or not...it's metal, one piece ("buffer tube" and receiver block) and locks up good with my CAA stock. My grip is CAA as well and I like it quite a bit. It has interchangeable backstraps and finger grooves, kind of like a MIAD. I did buy a new trigger guard but realized during the conversion that the old one could have easily been reused.

Well, they sell the JTE mainspring at Carolina shooters supply. They're like 8$ maybe. As far as I know they're the only ones that have them. I've read that its a great improvement over the old spring. I cant say since I bought it and put it on when I converted.

I might try something like that CAA grip, those dont look bad. The hogue just feels awkward to me.
