The state District Attorneys Association has stepped into the debate over new gun laws with proposals for both state and federal lawmakers to consider. The group’s list includes items popular among Democrats as well as several items — including stepped-up punishment for gun crimes and expansion of Kendra’s Law regarding oversight of the mentally ill — that have been floated by Republicans.

I'm not familiar with NY's current Kendra's Law. Is it a typical KL allowing judges to order mandatory outpatient treatment (backed by threat of commitment), but NOT requiring the person to take meds. I believe this was the original version that NAMI supported.
