Crowds at the range

At my favorite indoor range, it has gotten busier since the election. Like twice as many shooters, maybe more. Anyone else noticing the same?

Just like always. It's good for the club though, we get a boost in enrollment and after every settles down some will stay members.

Actually much less crowded, guessing due to the ammo shortage?

The indoor range I shoot at does get busy. However, I have membership which pays off. There is a side range with 5 positions where members get head of line. So even on a busy day I seldom wait like those paying by the hour. During the NE Ohio winters I like the indoors range but during the summer I am outside and enjoying rifle shooting. Rifle indoors at 75 feet just plain sucks! :)

I think I have historically noticed an uptick in range crowds after the new year. It is same thing with the gym.

I, along with other people, resolve to go to the range/gym more often, and it is great until motivation and money run low.

Money is another thing, people probably got some bonus checks or gift cards and went out to buy a new toy! I know I did! (Not a bonus but a couple gift cards financed about 40% of a new toy)

Lots of new guns means lots of people wanting to try out their new purchases. Im more wary of inexperienced shooters at these times.

During my last visit to a KCK-area indoor range in the week after Sandy Hook, the line wasn't that busy. It was the gun counter in the shop that was crowded.

Makes you wonder how many people got memberships for Christmas. It gets busy after Christmas every year at the range I shoot at but it quiets down in a month or so.

Mine was busier than usual this Sunday. Maybe there wasn't any football on they wanted to watch or maybe they could find ammo to buy and shoot.

I wouldn't go near the city range closest to me. They also low balled me on a for- sale a couple of weeks ago, but I won't hold it against them. Too many newbies. Cannot imagine the muzzle sweeping and newbie yahooing.

I have noticed more shooters at my indoor range in the last month or so.

I've seen an increase at my local range over the last 3 -4 months. Many new shooters and what appears to be family groups learning to shoot. The thing that is surprising to me is, I only go to the range mid-day, mid-week.

Yep. More folks at the range I usually go to - but I think I will change to a different range (been there a couple of times a little more "well oiled").

The thing that made me a little nervous at my soon to be "old" range is a lot of new shooters are coming in, that's great, but to an extent... as in - the guys behind the counter have to show them how to use a rental gun. One middle aged couple and their kids had rented a Glock 17 and got a quick impromptu lesson from one the clerks ("this is how you put in the magazine, when the magazine is empty, it should lock back like this... OK?") - moments later they were looking the gun over, waving it around, FINGER ON THE TRIGGER. Just as my luck would have it, they were in the lane right next to mine - dropped the gun, laughed at that - then another couple comes in the lady is asking "so what's this do?" the guy answers, "I'm not sure, only one way to find out" - must've been date night and he was proving how much of a stud he was.

Very unsettling as I witnessed a couple of people there who did not really know how to handle firearms. I've never seen this before at this particular range but with so many new people coming in I think I might take a break for a while.

I noticed ours been more crowded since newtown. And ours has been taking groups of new shooters from groupon. As a member I tell the rso I don't want to be next to them. just don't trust newbies with semi autos and little oversight. That being said I haven't had a problem

It has not changed as much in my range. Crowds are the same during the week. usually the weekends are the busier days.

I just went to one of my local indoor ranges last Monday and I had the entire rifle section to myself.

I go early in the morning or when the weather is lousy. People in Texas think 45 degrees is cold.

If it's raining we're training!

Better now. Christmas/New Year "break" was ridiculous.
