The nickel one is an original 1858 serial number 66xxx. I don't think the nickel is original, but over all it's in good shape . No inspector marking on the grip. Rifling is clean. I think this could be fired without any problem.(Not that I would). At one time I found a web site that had dates of manufacture, but I can no longer find it. Thank you in advance for any info.

AFAIK, there were no nickel plated Remingtons of that model. But IMHO, if the gun is functional and is good and is tight, why not shoot it? It is not like it is new in the box and you will destroy the collector value.
