In my area 9mm, .223/5.56, and .22 are the most missing from the shelves. .380, .40, .45, 38 special and 7.62x39 are for the most part readily available. x39 is somewhat sporadic, but I can pick up a box or to right now as long as I don't mind it being the tulammo 154 grain stuff. Is this similar in your neck of the woods? Forgot to mention .308 is completely gone.

EDIT TO ADD: Is this making you choose different caliber guns for future purchases? It is me, I now realize I wish I had a .40 and a 38 special, plus a couple more .380's.

Almost everything is gone here but 22 magnum and 40S&W with some shotgun shells and even a couple of boxes of 7.62x39. Luckily I have a rifle that shoots 22 magnum!

Well I shoot .44 mag/spl alot and I havent been finding a good supply locally. Also 12ga shells mainly buckshot and slugs are nowhere to be found. And oddly enough even .30-30 is running low

.22 Long Rifle, in all variations. I bought a .22 handgun a few days ago, and the gal checking me out asked if I needed any ammo. The guy who got the gun out of the case for me had also asked me that.
I responded that I had more in stock than they did, which they both admitted was likely true.

oh yeah... 12 gauge. This is another reason why I love my .30-.30. There's always ammo available.

.223/5.56 has been gone for weeks here in southern PA. I went out and purchased the last 2 boxes of bulk .22 on the shelf at my local Wal-Mart directly following Sandy Hook and haven't seen any bulk .22 ammo on the shelf since. 7.62x39 has been in ample supply pretty much anywhere other than Wal-Mart from what I've seen, surplus and decent grade alike.

Last time I checked the shelves at my local Wal-Mart (about a week ago) the main shelves were empty other than 2 boxes of .45LC and 1 box of .32ACP. The other ammo shelf that stores mostly hunting-specific ammo was well-stocked with shotgun shells and hunting rifle ammunition other than .22, such as 30-30, 30-06, .270, etc.

.223 7.62x51 and .308 are basically gone. 9mm is scarce. .22 is still plentiful. .380 has gone up significantly in price. A lot of gas stations/convenience stores in IA sell .22 so I don't think that will sell out anytime soon here.

Funny. I can find as much 9mm as I could ever want. I can't find .30 carbine or 22lr at all. Everything else is plentiful. 223 is still easy to find, the price has skyrocketed tho.

My local Walmart ammo shelves are collecting dust. One gun shop got some zombie. 223(2,000 rounds) and it's selling for over $24 for a box of 20.

No .223 or 9mm left here, but tons of 12 gauge. 22LR is hit and miss, shelves emptied for a short time but it's starting to reappear. Some odd holes on the shelves, .22-250 and .357 sold out at Big R and Scheel's but plenty of .38sp, .44 mag and .243. Haven't looked at .308 but I wouldn't be shocked to see empty spaces next time I look.

Primers are tough to find, esp small rifle and pistol primers. Large rifle and large pistol are a little easier find, but not much. Bullets are about sold out most sizes and weights.

I'm not in bad shape, the only thing I'm short on is 44M. I'm not really worried but I'll pick up a bit here and a bit there, mainly .22 cause that's what I shoot the most.

* expensive handgun ammo (JHP mostly)
* assorted hunting rifle ammo (though 30-30 is generally gone also)
* in "inexpensive" handgun ammo, mainly .40 is left

What does that do for me? Makes me wish I had a .40 handgun...I like the 1911, so I've been thinking about one in .40, though they can be problematic and somewhat more expensive. During the last panic in 2008, it was the last caliber to vanish from the shelves.

At Cabela's on Sat., and there was lots of ammo on the shelves, but some calibers were conspicuous by their absence. .223 was all gone. A fair supply of 5.56 was on hand, but it was all tracer, and I think marked up drastically. Lots of 9mm, but it's either the real high end ($22/box of 50) or the Russian stuff that was $8.99/box of 50 several weeks ago, but now $14 or more. Didn't notice how the .22lr was doing, as I wasn't buying any.

Since they display the calibers smaller to larger, I noticed (while looking for .223) that there was still tons of .22-250 and a decent supply of .243.

What was MORE obvious was that their semi-auto handgun shelves were about half empty; something I've never seen at Cabela's before. Don't know if it's because people are buying more or because suppliers are backlogged. I know that their "CLEARANCE" prices on handguns were a joke. Maybe $40 off list was typical. There was a huge line of customers at the front cashiers' stations, but none of those were gun buyers...or even ammo buyers, from what I could tell.

At the gun shop I work at we can't order any more ammo from our distributors, they are out of stock on just about everything other than large, expensive hunting ammo.

Fortunately our shop manager saw this coming and ordered lot of ammo a couple weeks back while it was still in stock. So we got in about 15,000 rounds of Federal target 9mm in today. I snatched up a 1,000 round case for myself as soon as it got in. We also have about 15,000 rounds of 40sw HSM re-manufactured ammo and have a good stockpile of .25, .32, .45 Colt, 9mm defensive and tons of hunting ammo in most common calibers. So in the grand scheme of things our shop isn't doing too bad when it comes to ammo in stock. The only thing we have very little of is .22lr, 223/5.56 and 7.62x39 and we can't get any of that right now.

We are selling all our ammo at pre-panic prices but please don't bother contacting me to find out if we can ship you some ammo, we don't ship ammo it's too much of a hassle. However if you are in the Santa Fe, NM area over the next couple weeks and need 9mm and .40sw then we have lots, at least for now.

All of it. There is nothing here for sale within 200 miles that I know of. You cannot even find Russian crap surplus around these parts. No .22, no nothing! I even work and test things in the industry and we have been told that it might be 2014 before we can even get any more ammo for testing and evaluation!!!!! They are telling us that they have to fulfill current demand, which they cannot ^^^do, and until they do that none will be available for other purposes. Wow!

Same here. Just got rid of my only 40 cal pistols. Going to head out this weekend to bass pro, academy and cabellas AND CTD to see what people actually have on their shelves though.

Plenty of .243 , 30 30 , 3006 for hunting rounds at Walmart. The only .22 LRs untouched are the Remington GB in small 50 rd boxes. Maybe many Texas are fully aware of its dirty buildup and just dont bother to buy it. LOL I did got a box of Remington target 22 LR , 100 rds for $6 which wasnt bad.

Stopped by Big R on the way home tonight, about fell over. There was a whole shelf full of Remington .22, 500 rd cartons for $20 each and there was a case of 5.56 on the shelf also.

I picked up a couple of boxes of 5.56 and a couple of cartons of the 22. I restrained myself and left some for the next guy, but it wasn't easy.......:evil:
