New Sig!

I decided that I'd blow a little Christmas cash and bought a new (to me) Sig P228. The gun was a police trade in from Switzerland that's had the slide refinished in an OD Green teflon coating. I'm not a huge fan of the color but I'll admit that the more I handle the gun the less I care about the color. Proof marks on the frame and slide make this an all German made gun from '92. I'll put up a range report after I have a chance to shoot it but if it shoots like the last Sig (a P225) that I shot then there should be a bunch of holes in the 10 ring.

Now I just need to find a 9mm SD load that I like.

That's a cool looking 228!

Where, may I ask, does one acquire a Switzerland police trade-in?

Happy shooting.

Very nice, I am glad you found a german made gun. I bought a new 229 last year and had nothing but quality issues with it.

Neat looking P228!

Kind of reminds me of some of those CZ's a few years back that had a green epoxy finish on them.

Have to say that at the very least it's distinctive looking.

If you can't live with the color, send the slide off to be dura coated. Shouldn't cost you much.

PW Arms in WA imported a bunch about a year or so ago but I'm not sure how many or what distributors had them. I got mine from Robertson Trading Post in TN who had a whole bunch but I think with the panic buying they may be sold out. I've also seen a couple come up for sale on various forums but they tended to sell fast.

*Update* I just checked Robertson Trading Post's site and it looks like all the 228s are sold. However they have a couple dozen Swiss Police trade-in 226s at a decent price.

Several years now I think. I went to change it once and found out you can't make signatures that long anymore, so I just left it be.

I have heard that new Sigs are now using parts that have been manufactured in Turkey and Korea. Ever since that former Kimber guy took over many Sig folks have left due to things he has been doing. I used to send in my Sigs back to Sig every 5,000 rounds for a once over and to get any parts changed out as sort of a preventative maintenance program. Not sure I will do this anymore.
