A check on the facebook event "Guns across America" by "Gun Control = More Crime" shows 5,500 people attending and 1,700 maybes.

Also on that facebook event page people are organizing by state with emails for questions about your states event.

I pulled PAs info for you in case you dont have facebook sean326

It looks like PA will have more attending than some of the other states ATM.

Spread the word. 7 Days left to rally.

I applaud the effort and I would most definitely do this, but why on a Saturday?

Thanks I found it, I'll be there. I wish they planned it a little more in advance it would be great to have had time for all our organizations and publications to publicize this.

There is a conflict two groups two dates it's on other threads on the board.
I think it should be the February date to get us more time to organize.

ATBackPackin, Im not sure why the creator chose a saturday. My guess is that more people have weekends off.

BubbaRay and sean326, Why just one demonstration? Why not two demonstrations? The january event can be considered practice. If you feel there was not enough organization you will know what to improve first. Like well spoken and thought out answers to the questions and comments the antis will throw out there.

Alot can happen in 7 days.

If the occupant of the White House decides to try his Executive Powers you may not have time enough to act with a February date. I will go January 18th. If there is another date in Feb I will go to that as well.
I would not wait, or consider the Jan date as practice or you might be practicing at the gun registration counter.
I know,"I'll never..." but if you wait, or falter or blink our rights will be gone . Please take EVERY opportunity to make the preservation of our 2nd Amendment rights a frequent and positive message in the minds of the public.

Springfield, Illinois here I come. Aside from voting in every election, local, state, and national, since 1972 I have never really gotten involved. That has ended. I urge you to join the NRA, and your state rifle association. The next AWB Will be PERMANENT. Our great grandchildren will wonder why we didn't do more.

January 19th it is. I am going to send off a letter for myself and my wife to our Representative and Senators (again) and one to Walmart to stand against any deals with the President.
Snail mail letters will work even better if you have the patience to hand write that many letters, I don't.

All, I am helping to organize the event in Ohio. I hope to see all of my statesmen and women there. The Rally got off to a rocky start but we currently have about 175 RSVP'ed for the event. The facebook event page is a great place to get more information. But here is the general info:

Guns Across America, A Pro 2nd Amd Rally
Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Noon.
The public sidewalk and public areas outside The Ohio Statehouse in Columbus.
Bring a picket sign with a pro-2nd Amd Slogan (Be Creative)

We will not be on Statehouse grounds. A permit is required and firearms are not allowed on Statehouse grounds. Many supporters will be carrying a firearm openly or concealed. I have spoken with the Statehouse and Columbus PD. They are aware we are coming. Columbus PD has been very supportive They have no issues with us carrying firearms in accordance with the law. They prefer that we have no magazines in rifles or at a minimum the action open. However, they also acknowledge that we have the right to carry with a loaded mag and one in the chamber.

I understand there is another event on Feb 8 hosted by another group. I encourage you to attend BOTH. I doubt one rally will get through the thick skulls of the White House.

We need your support. I hope to meet you there.

If you can't make it, please share this event with everyone you know who supports the right to bear arms.

I'm going to my local event. I wonder what percentage of folks that have pissed and moaned on here, will do the same. Get a friend (or ten). These events, will get publicity so the stronger the showing the better. If they have weak turn out that will really send the wrong message.

I will attend and my personal goal is to get at least 10 others to go. I know way more than 10 pro gun people so it shouldn't be hard to find at least ten to go. If everyone would do that we could have some good showings.

CBS and ABC have reported thousands of supporters at State Capitols.

I've yet to see anybody else reporting on it yet. CNN doesn't want anyone to think that there are pro-gun people in the United States.

My wife and I attended the rally in Columbus, Ohio. There were at least 1500 people there. Lots of signs, lots of people open carrying. Everyone was very pleasant and friendly. I saw many people with Ars and other modern sporting rifles. Considering the lack of advance notice, I was thrilled with the turn out.

We did it. Together we made the news. People will talk about this.

CBS is talking about it.
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57564859/thousands-join-pro-gun-rallies-in-state-capitals/

ABC is talking about it.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/hundreds-join-pro-gun-rallies-state-capitals-18258801

And I am proud to say my local paper is talking about it
http://bangordailynews.com/2013/01/19/news/augusta/mainers-rally-in-front-of-state-house-to-support-gun-rights/

Take a moment and reflect on our achivement. . . dont take too long.

Much work is to be done. More letters to write, more rallies to attend and more positive atmosphere to spread.

I think the crowd today in Austin was estimated at about 1,500. We had some excellent speakers an a lot of God and Country Americans in attendance. The opposing crowd on the other side of the capital had a pathetic turnout. We made a statement today but the fight has just started. We must be relentless in letting the tyrants know that gun control will be a no-go with the American people.

I pretty sure that a lot of people didn't get the word. I just found out earier this week on this forum. We did have about 600 turn out today and received some coverage from at least two of the big three affliates. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a typical Iowan gathering, polite. Although we were on the Capital grounds, no l.e.o's were present. And while state laws allow open carry, no one did. I think with a little more synchronization between groups this could really grow. I know this event was more of a response to the blather coming from the white house right now, but maybe every May 1st would be a good time to remind Americans that the law abiding gun owners are NOT the problem.

Good job guys, keep it up.

Give money to the NRA, they're our outlet now. Like it or not this "special interest group" is one of the few that has our interests at heart.

Notice how the Brady Campaign isn't called a "special interest group" by the media?

Time to stop tuning in to CNN people. Get your information online and use common sense to form your own ideas. You'll never get a fair representation from the media about firearm ownership.

We had a great turnout in Salem, Oregon. At least 2500 showed up (media reported "hundreds" to "1000", lol) and some great speakers. One of our Portland stations reported very enthusiastically about how nice everyone was, and how it was by far the most peaceful demonstration he'd ever attended.

https://www.facebook.com/events/123470411154839/?fref=ts

I didn't see any counter-demonstrators, even though we had a lot of "Occupy NRA" publicity trying to rally the troops to show up. Goes to show....

Did anyone go to the Columbus, OH rally. From what I understand there were a couple thousand there. I'm appalled by the lack of media reporting. The Columbus Dispatch had no mention of it in Sunday's paper unless it was buried someone, but I couldn't find. Further proof that the media only reports what fits their agenda.

What can be done to get the media to report more accurately on these? How do we get people to actually account for their attendance?

a) go to the next rally

b) bring two people with you who did not go to the last rally

We need to have so many people show up that we cannot be ignored.

THR member Wacki has already posted a thread for this date, it can be found here:

I would like to ask that we be finished with this thread and migrate to Wacki's.
