Well, not exactly stole, but bought it at a ridiculously low price! :D

The local gun show is on this weekend, and I dropped in to browse around this morning. Didn't expect to find much (although fortunately we're spared most of the jerky and T-shirt crap that many of you complain about), but on one stall, a guy had a S&W 625 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt for $425. I did a double-take on the price, as these usually list for $500-$600 round here - when you can find one, which isn't often... On closer examination, it looked as new as when it had left the factory - I'll bet it hadn't had even one box of ammo through it. Hardly believing my luck, I chanced my arm and made him an offer of $400 cash, no tax, no nothing - and he took it! I almost set fire to the paper filling out Form 4473... :D

Just got it home, and looking at it, it's absolutely mint! I've never seen a used Mountain Gun in such good shape. This has made my weekend!

Very sweet ..... now you just have to squeeze everything else together a bit tighter ... to make space for it! :p

I passed up on one of these at last gun show ... price wasn't bad but it was not this good. It was one of those ''do I really need it'' moments .. and common sense and discretion got the better of me ...... that in itself is a very rare event.

Now maybe I wish I'd gone for it. :o

Preacherman, I have a theological question...

It's about the 10th commandment.

When a man of the cloth starts a thread like this, isn't that dangerously close to "entrapment"? :D

Maybe somebody was looking after you ...

Shame on you, Preacherman!

Imagine a man of the cloth taking advantage of a gunshow seller like that!

Send it directly to me, and I'll pray to God to forgive you. :D

Nice, and practical! You don't need magnums in the Bayou, just big globs of lead. As you read I had a 25-5 4" for all of a month and traded it for a commercial S&W 1917 in about the same shape! I have no .45 Long Colts in active service, or desires to do such. I DO have a great many .45acp's in service , both auto's and revolvers. But if I was you I'd be carrying a stainless mountain gun .45Colt as I went around my damp wet parrish rounds! If you can get the Corbon 200grain load at 1100fps it is a tack driver with light recoil and expands like crazy! I shot up 6 boxes while I had my 25-5 and the blew big chunks out of stuff!
