Diamondback6 January 12, 2013, 10:57 PM About 96.7%... my money's on it quietly disappearing with no further comment--in the big leagues, "pro-gun Democrat" usually means the latter first and the former only when leadership gives them a "hall pass," usually close to an election. 41wheelgun January 13, 2013, 12:34 AM Done Droid noob January 13, 2013, 12:42 AM I wonder if this could be taken a step further to somehow hold him accountable. If the poll does not use cookies to mark you as voted, it can be exploited by either side. This s not put there so the Rep will vote the way of the poll, but to give a voice so they can get an idea on how people think. mec56 January 13, 2013, 02:12 PM Done. Thanks! 481 January 13, 2013, 02:23 PM Seems like we own these polls, I sure hope they really mean something. Maybe in combination with everything else we do , it may. I wrote my Reps, so much, I am afraid anymore will cause concern. But if not now, then when? I've been beginning to feel the same way, g. I've been keeping track of what I have done, and since Dec 17th, I have written over four dozen letters to my Federal, State, and local reps, made six phone calls and made two contributions to the NRA. However, now is probably the time to fight like we've never fought before since the fools in DC seem determined to ram something else down our collective throats "for our own good", of course- the utter expression of the nanny-state. In the end, so long as I maintain polite and logical arguments, I suspect that there is little that "they" (the fools in DC) can do about it until "they" decide that our First Amendment means nothing, too. This was my latest letter to our President: Dear Mr President, I am writing to you to ask that you discontinue your pursuit of further firearms legislation, including the re-enactment of any form of the failed 1994 Assault Weapons Ban. As a retired police officer, I stand with the vast majority of those in my profession who support every part of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights including the right of the American people to keep and bear arms. As any law-abiding American was, so too, were law-abiding gun-owners horrified beyond words at the tragic loss of 26 innocent lives on 14 December 2012 at Sandy Hook elementary school. However, the answer to the problem is not to further diminish the rights of law-abiding American citizens, but rather to encourage, support, and increase those God-given rights, allowing them to exercise their human right of self-protection. In closing, I urge you to bring to a halt and stop pursuing any further restrictions of law-abiding American citizen's right to keep and bear arms, refrain from re-enacting the failed 1994 Assault Weapons Ban in any form, and to join the NRA in the implementation of the National School Safety Shield program in order to afford my children the same professional, competent, armed security that your children enjoy as they sit in their schools. To anyone concerned that they are doing too much, keep writing and calling, let your representatives know that you will not stand for any further compromise of our Second Amendment rights merely to appease the anti-gun mob and that you will unseat them should they fail in that simplest of tasks.
