Hi all... I went out last night for the first time with my Yukon, Gen 1 1.5x scope on my AR....

The scope worked well when it was just the NV, but with the IR Illuminator on everything washed out.

The weather conditions were pea soup thick fog. Is this normal?

Yes. the fog reflected the IR light back into your device.

Kind of like if you were driving in fog you don't want to turn on your high beams.

Ok good. I know my scope is far from the best, just wanted to make sure this was normal.

NVD's halo really badly in high humidity and even worse in visible moisture though it will let you see through some of it. Add any kind of illuminator and it's no different than using a flash when trying to take a picture through a window at night. All you get is a reflection of the flash back in your face.

It did perform very well though without the IR on. Also, I imagine the fact the fog was so thick the lenses were misty as well... Oh well... like they say, a bad night of hunting is better than a good day at work!
