First off these seem to be somewhat hard to find for me. It seems like a pretty rare genre in general. Basically I finally broke my Gerber Mini Remix and would like something a little more durable. Something in the 3" blade range with one handed opening capability.

The only ones I am familiar with are the Kershaw Needs Work, BH Be-Wharned, and Spy Yojimbo 2. These are the kind Im talking about. Wanting to keep price under 50 though.

This is not to be used as a defense knife primarily either. It will be used for whatever purpose presents itself at anyplace I find myself be it home or work. It will probably be cutting alot of boxes and will be stared at admirably by me during all other hours.

If you like a real compact one, there's the Boker Subcom Wharncliffe model. It's just under 2" so it's real nonthreatening and very easy to carry (there are even kydex neck sheathes out there for them).

Kick-in another $7-15 and you could get a Spyderco Salt in H1 steel. Or, if hawkbills are also "OK" you could get a Tasman Salt.
