ALright guys with the craze going on it's hard to find 4064 and i still want to shoot my 30-06. My local gunshops are really only stocking red dot, and tons of it. I would love to make some light loads for my 30-06 anyway. Missouri bullet has 165 gr RNFP bullets at 18 BH and i'm curious, will i be able to follow "the load" of 10-13 gr red dot and not have leading without a gas check?
I just found this http://www.survivalistboards.com/showthread.php?t=1855 stating that a 170 gr lead bullet with 13 grs of red dot will have approx 1500 fps. if i coat the bullet with lee liquid alox, would that eliminate the need for a gas check?

I have seen testimonials to Johnson's Paste Wax as a cast bullet lubricant that prevents leading far better than commercial lubes and reduces the need for gas checks for velocities up to around 2000 fps. I am planning to try it but have not yet done so. YMMV.

I think you'll be fine at 1500fps without a gas check.

lead bullet with a good lube you wont have a problem leading without a gas check at 1500 fps. IT'S not a big thing if you do get some leading just kroil oil the bore let it sit over nite a the next day tight patch on a jag it will push out.
