here's a sampling of the revolvers a local dealer has on for 20% off...I was really thinking of getting a Colt auto, but there are several tempting choices here....

Hello All-
Mighty impressive list; lot's of these weapons I
have owned myself at one time or the other!
With that said, I had to vote for the 5" barrel
Smith & Wesson 629-5 "Classic". Every time I
pick mine up, I like it that much more. Factory
stock, with a buttery smooth double-action;
and a very light single-action. If I could only
have one from your list, this would be it!
Best Wishes,

I'm with Tam and Perfessr - but I had to vote for the 1917. Too much history to ignore! :D

We could advise you much easier if you had included the price for each gun.
As well as the name and phone number of the shop involved. :D

I'm partial towards the M1917. Besides, I've already have two M29s, several J frames & several K frames but only one M1917.

The shop is the only large one in Fresno, CA, which if you know the area, will tell you who it is (Herb Bauers)
that's 20% off full list, so the deals are okay, not outstanding. You can see similar prices on Gunbroker, and cheaper ones in LA.
When I walked in, they all said "You're too late! we sold our last 500":)
The 1917 is on sale for about $640. I would call it very good condition, though the grips have a shade tree checkering job and need to be replaced.
And I like the 5" Classic, as well.:D

I'm feeling like being mean lately, and have taken a liking to really ill tempered and nasty handguns. I would go for the 329 first, with some nice handloads it would have to be positively unreasonable to shoot. The M60 would probably be second, useful yet oh-so-unpleasant when stoked with boomers.

My pulse quickened a little when I saw a M41 - until I discovered the list is now over a thousand dollars. Even discounted it's too much for a .22.
The EK commemorative is the most interesting - it has alegedly never been shot, but was at one point stolen and th stocks are dinged up. It would make an interesting, shootable 4" 44 Smith.

Hmm... sale huh?
How much do each revolver go for? That might give us a better idea on which to buy...
Oh yeah, can you price out a 686 6" for me? I would appreciate it. :)

Black Majic, they are cheaper at Turner's various stores in So Cal.
I decided to pass...moving expenses coming up in a few weeks, and I'd rather have another 1911, anyway.
