So I've been using an "old style" 55 for years. Aquired a newer version (but not the newest) which appears to be the same except a plastic cap instead of metal and the reservoir doesn't screw out.

I don't see the threads like in my older one. Is this one not removable?

They are removable. They just press in, so pull hard and they come out.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I didn't want to break it in the process!

They are a press fit as stated. I also have one of the old ones (Ideal) that is threaded. I got it with a broken reservoir and used it that way for years. I got one of the newer replacment snap in ones from the factory and used hot water to heat it up and just screw it into the old base. It will cut threads in the plastic just fine when the plastic is hot enough.
