We certainly arent out of the woods yet, but our elected representatives know that a ban is not the answer. Even Harry Reid says he will 'consider' the proposals. Doesnt sound very enthisiastic for gun control people. Too many of them know what happened in '94, and they all want to be re-elected.

Lets keep the letters, emails, and phone calls coming.

Like you said, keep up the pressure. And don't forget how your representatives vote when it comes time to reelect them or unseat them.

Obamacare was more unpopular than AWBII, I'd go as far as to say a LOT more unpopular. Some paid-off and arm-twisted congressgoons, and a temporarily(?) senile Supreme Court Justice later, and it's the concrete law of the land.

The only SLIGHT advantage we have this time is a Republican House. And the "leadership" is more interested in playing political hot-potato with the Dems rather than standing for what's right. And at the same time, politics is likely the ONLY reason some Dems are hesitant to plow forward with this.

This is not entirely true. Before Obamacare, the house dems made clear they had no interest in gun control and wouldn't support it. That is why it didn't come up in the first term. Since then, most of those dems have been replaced by republicans.

In 1994, we weren't organized. Now we are. Most shooters didn't use the internet at all. Now we do. Most of us weren't aware at all that a ban had passed until we went to the sporting goods store and saw ARs with no flash hiders. Now we know how our reps are going to vote as soon as an issue pops up. An AR was still pretty exotic back then. Now they have been the best-selling gun for the last ten years. The '94 ban passed by two votes with a majority AND a sunset clause. It STILL cost them both houses.
