mrapathy2000 March 7, 2004, 05:14 PM the anti's are pushing hard to get AWB2.0 going. doubtfull it will come to senate floor if it does will probably get shot down after a gun industry liability ammendment gets attached to it. they want AWB 2.0 to ban more items than previous one. heck probably want confiscation in it too. AZLibertarian March 7, 2004, 10:28 PM ...they want AWB 2.0 to ban more items than previous one. heck probably want confiscation in it too.Personally, I do not think that even the vilest Schumer/Hillary/Feinstein/Brady clone would realistically expect confiscation. While many of the sheeple would undoubtably turn in their (fill in the blank of your favorite evil weapon here), there would be enough others who would turn theirs in 'pointy-ends' first that I'd predict that enforcing a confiscation would be next to impossible. Lone_Gunman March 8, 2004, 07:51 AM Its probably going to die in September, but it will be resurrected in Bush's second term. Obiwan March 8, 2004, 08:00 AM So...take good advantage of that window of opportunity Bartholomew Roberts March 8, 2004, 10:29 AM We aren't out of the woods until September 14, 2004. Anything can happen until then; but the odds favor us greatly now. Mute March 8, 2004, 11:22 AM Assault weapons ban concern... are we out of the woods yet? Hardly. We stay on this one like ugly on Janet Reno. RocketMan March 8, 2004, 09:03 PM It will be back once Kerry is elected, in a much worse form, I fear. Lone_Gunman March 8, 2004, 09:56 PM It will be back once <insert Presidential candidate of choice> is elected, in a much worse form, I fear. benEzra March 9, 2004, 11:51 AM We aren't out of the woods until September 14, 2004. We aren't going to be out of the woods then, either. We'll have our freedom back, but I doubt the Democrats will stop pushing this issue just because the ban expires. Sam Adams March 9, 2004, 12:49 PM Its probably going to die in September, but it will be resurrected in Bush's second term. I agree that it will probably die - and good riddance! We need to hammer in the stake, or preferably a few dozen, just to make sure. One thing that encourages me is the following: this will be the first federal gun law stricken from the books (albeit in a passive way, rather than by outright repeal, but I'll take it). The more time that goes by after this happens, the better for us. You see, there will be no uprisings by the bayonet-armed militia, nor will there be a big rise in drive-by bayonettings (though a single instance would represent an infinite increase in the level of that crime, seeing as how none have every occurred), nor will 10,000 cops or kids get killed/murdered by those armed with newly produced 30-round magazines (as opposed to old ones or 10-rounders). It will be like the passage of CCH laws - once the bloodbath doesn't occur, the antis will be forced to STFU. Also, once this legislation dies, it will be easier to get other stuff repealed. Gun owners may actually get to go on the offensive. I'm looking forward to $5-$10 mags for my semi-autos, instead of paying $15-$40. I really do have a better use for the money...and one use is to stockpile a lot of them in case AWB 2 does come down the pike.
