We Are The Target

Fella’s;

While I was on the computer earlier today I caught the local radio station’s news, and got disgusted. A major segment of the news was devoted to gun shows, and the AD’s at them. With as much drama about the consequences as they could convey without video. Things that I strongly doubt would have made Montana news even a short time ago were obviously sensationalized. Yes, I’m sure the AD’s did occur, but the attendant fervor was all out of proportion for responsible reporting in my opinion.

Yes, it’s further evidence of the aftermath of Sandy Hook, but it’s being reported the way it is for political ends from what I can see. I regard it as barefaced evidence of the media’s overt support of the current liberal agenda to demonize firearms.

In further evidence of the demonization, yesterday I received a political flier from an outfit whose return address is:
Use Your Mandate
P.O. Box 1904
New York, NY 10156
The thrust of the flier is that: “We are sure President Obama nominated Republican Chuck Hagel with the best of intentions, but every day we learn more and more about Chuck Hage's extremist views: anti-gay, anti-women, anti-Israel, and pro-gun. Emphasis by the Use Your Mandate organization. Since when is being pro-gun a legitimate objection to being a Secretary Of Defense?

People, we’re the victims of a smear campaign. I urge every firearm owner to do whatever they can to bring this type of slander and libel to a halt. If we don’t campaign for ourselves, we’re going to be history.

Admin, I looked at the rules for activism, & then went to legal. This didn't seem to fit in either place so I put it here. If it needs to be moved, go right ahead.

What you are seeing is the truth revealed. They've always wanted your guns, and they've bided their time because the political winds blew against them. It is not an accident that every gun incident since Sandy Hook has been blown out of its usual proportion. It is deliberate, and it has a goal in mind.

The battle is on, folks. The NRA is not kidding you. This is the big one. The other side believes that once momentum builds for gun control, that we will begin an inevitable march to the gun-free society they have always wanted. And they see this political moment as the starting point for that momentum.

It's not just activists. It's not just politicians. It's not just journalists. It is a full-court press from an entire school of political thought, and they smell blood.

I wrote a reply to an earlier thread that seems somewhat pertinent here as well...

So, you're asking... what is gun control about?

It is about disdain for those who "cling" to their guns as a source of power.

It is about their hatred for the people they percieve to be the gun culture (white, low-income, rural, uneducated).

It is ideological warfare, designed to break the will of the political resistance.

It is about demoralizing one's political opponents by desecrating the symbol of the group's identity.

It is about getting all the guns, by any means necessary.

It is about social justice, and removing the last vestige of power from the group that they believe is most responsible for the sins of America's past.

It is about demonization, because they must first hate us in order to justify taking what they know is our rightful liberty.

It is about scapegoating, because they won't be supported unless the masses can be convinced that dead children are our fault.

It is about ridicule, because they believe in their own cultural and intellectual superiority.

It is about emotion, because logic, reason and empirical data do not support them.

It is about making America less like its "shameful" past.

It is about making America more like countries that they percieve to be civilized.

It is about resenting the idea of America, and wanting to change it into something else.

It is about "progress".

It is about preaching the ideals of democracy, but harboring deep mistrust of your fellow man.

It is about promoting power to the people, but only meaning certain people.

It is about society as a zero-sum game, where power can only be given to the oppressed if it is relinquished by the oppressor.

It is about making you live with the fear and insecurity that they live with daily.

It is about removing barriers of resistance to a future that they know you will be tempted to resist.

It is about making you more like them, because they know they are right.

It is about people who think they know more than you doing something that they believe is for your own good.

It is about an egalitarian ideal from the 19th Century that they believe would work "if only done properly".

It is about egalite and fraternite above life and liberte.

It is about rewriting our history to pretend that America was always the thing that they intend to turn it into.

It is about the sense of power and delight that they would gain from watching you be disarmed.

It is about the fact that you cannot be trusted to comply.

It is about the simple fact that they do not like you.

It is about submission.

And compromise with them is nothing more than submission.

I am glad you repeated it, it needs to be strongly said!

I've been telling people that there can be no more direct assault on the Second Amendment than a ban on military style weapons and equipment because a poorly armed people cannot be a militia capable of defending a free state. Many people who are concerned with personal defense haven't considered defense of the "free state". If the antis can convince people that nobody "needs" military quality arms then we truly have lost the big one.

Shadow 7D:

I tweeted that link yeterday. It works very well on the Andriod system, and quite a few of the people on my list seem to have actually read it.

That truth about assault weapons info is misleading. "An m4 can fire 950 rounds per minute". Um, no it can't. Just because a fa has a stated cyclic rate of fire dosn't mean it's actually possible. If memory serves, rate of fire is 12-15 sustained, 45 rapid and 90 burst. Even with fa mag dumps with an a1 you won't even come close to the cyclic in one min. All u accomplish is a dangerously hot barrel and malfunctions. It can shoot x number of rounds a min is generally a theoretical number only. If you're going to point out the differences please get it right, cyclic rate of fire and can shoot x number per min isn't actually the same thing. End of rant

Zardaia, while you're right, I still think the site is useful. It is simple, works well on Android, and serves as a fair introduction to the truth for a person who knows nothing about assault rifles.

I wish to God they had the guts and the honesty to pull this gun control stuff before the election. We'd have a different President right now. Don't say the NRA didn't warn you. All we can do now is remember this in the mid terms.

Been involved in the 2A struggle since the 60's....and regardless of what facade the anti's use, it has ALWAYS been about stripping away the citizen's right to own guns......regardless of what incremental step they use, that is what their ultimate goal is.

We as gun owners, have been preaching against O since we learned he was running for office, and it seemed that no one was listening. Now the good book says that "you reap what you sow" I just hope we don't reap too much hope and change.
