I would like to get a mosin nagant but the ones i was looking at sold out (id guess that the nice surplus ammo ran out to). Id like to know if anyone has seen any for around $100 or under. Also if anyone has seen crates of them i would also think about one of those cause i bet i could get a better deal for buying in bulk.:neener:

I'm thinking the under a hundred Mosin is a thing of the past....good luck. BTW, the $99 I spent on mine was the best $99 I've spent on a gun and would not hesitate to go much higher on a good one.

The last gunshow I went to I sam an M-91/30 for $150.00, an M39 Finnish for $400.00 with matching numbers by SAKO, and a Hungarian M44 with folding bayonet for $200.00. Bulk surplus ammo is still less than a hundred bucks for a tin of 7.62x54R. As far as I can see if a guy could only afford one gun, a Mosin Nagant would be a good choice. If you're adding to the collection, you really need to have at least one variation of Mosin Nagant.

LGS by me still had some in stock this weekend for around $100. I sprung for an m44 instead for $200. Still a good deal I think. They're still out there.

Mosin Nagants are like potato chips. You will never be satisfied with just one. I have many Finn versions.....chris3

Yeah, I just bought a 2nd M44 a couple days ago. However that was because a buddy of mine gave me first dibs for his Soviet M44 in excellent shape for $150 with ammo. I already had a 91/30 and M44, but that's a decent price even for something I don't need.

They're wonderful rifles and carbines for the money.

I can't find a 91/30 for under 200 bucks locally... glad I got mine when they were cheap. But it would be nice to have another. I love that gun. One day I'll get the scope tweaked in... though not sure how, as mine shoots 'left' more than the scope adjusts...

You can reserve them on Bud's for $119 right now probably about as cheap as they're going to get, but thats only 10 bucks more than they were last year.

I hunt with a guy who is 62 and got his first Mosin Nagant for $7 at Sears and Roebuck when he was a teeny bopper.

I am 61 and got my first Mauser for $10 in 1965.

It would be strange if we finally stopped importing surplus rifles.
Kind of like peak oil believers.... they will be right someday.

I've kinda lost count of my Mosins...I think I have about 10, between M38s, M44s, T53s, M39s, M91s, and M91/30s...

Most of the refurbs came out of the Ukraine. The Chinese T53's are coming out of Albania.

Some snipers are coming out of Russia via Molot.

Doomsday preppers are scooping them up by the crates. And the ammo cache are quite available.

The 1970's were devoid of surplus imports, and it wasnt till the 80's that things were available in quantity at cheap prices.
Cuttingoff different countrys from importing surples has been a slow but stedy process, either surplus arms or sporting versions of military type rifles.

Obamas EO could stop imports at he stroke of a pen. All military arms, including old bolt action rifles, much like the chinese, Egypt, Finnland, an others getting cut off, importation wize. in the late 80's and mid 90's
