Inflation?

The other day I realized that according to the current "fair market value" of firearms, I'm sitting on a gold mine. I found out that the PSL that I traded a CAI CETME that I paid $300 for, is now worth $2000, and the mags for said PSL are worth $199 each. It ALMOST makes me want to say "Thank You Barry Obummer", but not really.:neener::mad: This is getting, no, has gotten, ridiculously stupid!

It really hit me how stupid this whole thing was when I went looking for AR parts to complete a current build. Nonexistent is the proper term for AR parts right now. I couldn't find ammo, reloading supplies, or parts. Then I noticed that 10/22s tripled in price and had to quit looking. It makes my blood pressure spike just thinking about this whole ordeal.

When I saw what my AKs were worth in the current market, and given how little I really get around to shooting them, it was a no-brainer to put them on the market. I've got them half sold and I think I'm going to buy myself a nice lever rifle for some black powder shooting fun.

It's time to sell what you don't want to fund bigger and better things! In '08, I sold some stuff to fund a new project. I came out very good. I just posted some stuff on 'the broker' to help ease the pain of a new project that I'm working on.

Here's a fine example: I kinda liked this thing when I bought it, but I never shoot it. To the broker she goes... :)

Similar experience over on the Ammo side.
Impossible (or almost so) to find any .223, 9mm, .308, 7.62, or 22lr. And when you do find it the prices are usually 2 to 3 times the amount before the chaos.
Makes me glad I was able to order the day before Sandy Hook the last missing piece to my ammo. I was still short a decent JHP supply for our 9mm's. Got it for a good price. Now its worth over double that if you can find it!

Also, heard that the dealers are paying double from the distributors as well so don't expect the prices for ammo to go down any time soon!

I guessd that depends on who and what. I bought some bullets and powder and backordered some primers yesterday. Pricing was normal.

If it were all due to inflation, you'd have no reason to be excited. That would mean that $2,000 is only worth what the original cost was. What you're describing is not inflation.

Just a technicality! ;)
