Picked up a new Ruger 10/22 takedown last week. Notice the circled area in first picture. Is that piece suppose to be there? Looks to me like a piece held on when receiver was taken out of a mold? What do you guys think? Thanks in Advance.

That is not normal, I checked my TD just to be certain. I'd contact the store where I bought it first, they may be helpful. If not contact Ruger. They are VERY good about taking care of problems.

Definitely some casting flash on a parting line. Knowing Ruger as well as I do, if you contact customer service, and arrange to email your pictures, they will have your gun picked up and back to you in a week or so.

However, if it were "My" gun, I could deal with it easy. Remove the receiver from the stock, and strip it, and a little judicious work with a file is all that is needed, but it would be best to send it back if you are not confident enough to do it yourself.

Call Ruger and send pictures. They will instruct you on what to do.
