Especially check the analysis of the "Speaking for My Tribe" bit from the TalkingPointsMemo.

John Marshall doesn't know anything about guns, and he doesn't want to.

For many anti-gunners, exposing themselves the truth will contaminate their sense of superiority to knuckle-dragging gun owners.

An excellent read. James Taranto is a fine journalist. A telling quote from Bill Clinton in the article sounds familiar:

"A lot of these people . . . all they've got is their hunting and their fishing," he told the Democratic financiers. "Or they're living in a place where they don't have much police presence. Or they've been listening to this stuff for so long that they believe it all."
