Moneybomb for NRA-ILA

I saw this on another forum and thought it was a good idea. Today Diane Feinstein and Joe Biden are going to try and argue why you need to be treated as a potential child-murderer. There will be an all out media blitz in support of that.

Let's do what we can to make it a good day for the pro-RKBA group of our choice as well. If every NRA member sent just $10 to ILA (and you can't even buy a 20rd box of .223 or a magazine for $10 now), the ILA would go into 2014 with a lobbying budget of $42 million - almost twice what they spent in 2012 (and with which they helped 220 A-rated Reps get elected to the House). The ILA could use the cash to help make sure those Reps don't fold and to target those who would attack our civil rights.

https://www.nraila.org/get-involved-locally/secure/donate.aspx

And to do my part, I'll send $10 for myself and another $90 to cover 9 of you who cannot swing even $10 to protect your Second Amendment rights.

I've donated in the last month but when I tried to donate again two weeks ago I kept getting a server error (on two separate days on two separate computers). Hopefully next time I try it will go through.

But yes, DONATE TO THE NRA-ILA! They need it now!

I'm sure we all have something we can sacrifice to send in some money. That next gun can wait a month until all your future purchases are secure. That range trip can be cancelled. That family night at the movies can be a family night in playing Risk or Monopoly (which, honestly, is better at strengthening relationships within a family...well if you're not a sore loser anyway). Eat Top Ramen for a week. Stop buying Starbucks coffee for a week. Don't buy that new Blu-Ray. For nerds like me, don't server transfer that World of Warcraft character.

Alternatively, pick up some extra hours at work. Have your kids get a paper route to buy their toys so you can donate the money to NRA-ILA (hey, it'll teach them responsibility). Have a garage sale, sell some old junk (cleans your house) and donate half the proceeds (so you still get some cash) to the NRA-ILA.

There is a lot of little things we can sacrifice for the cause.

Skribs, I definitely hear you on the WoW transfers. To think those dozen server/faction changes that could have gone to the NRA-ILA fund. :(

I gave 100 bucks a few months ago. And will give more (maybe not as much). on the regular. Probably will make a month contribution.

They should find a way for monthly auto donations. Lord knows I have a few of those on less noble causes.

A monthly auto-donation would be great.

EDIT: Just suggest it to the NRA-ILA

I'll be making a donation as soon as the USPS gets an updated address from the organization that changed all the addresses out the road I live on. Right now the new address is being rejected because it can't be confirmed.

Already done, and I agree, it was a great idea.

Don't forget here that money spent joining a group like the GOA is also effective. While their lobbying efforts unilaterally are nowhere near as strong or efficient as the NRA's, more groups claiming large membership weight behind them will help a great deal in all of the groups' ability to pressure Congress.

I donated $30 each to SAF, GOA, and NRA-ILA in December and I can probably swing something similar this month (tight budget). We already don't eat out, don't get to go shooting much, don't get to buy fancy new toys, but this fight is worth eating red beans and rice a few extra times this month :D

Great idea to support those who work for our interests! There are so many who do not feel that we should have the rights guaranteed by our Constitution and if we do little or nothing, it will be us who are left out in the cold!

I sent in a $100 check today with the following note

"Dear NRA representative,

I am not wealthy, but I just started my first real professional job in my field. I value my freedom more than I value money, so please put this donation of $100 to work in defense of the Second Amendment.

Sincerely,

Goon"

Then I xeroxed the note and the check. I plan to send copies of the note to my reps to prove I am serious, and specifically let them know I will donate that much to their opponents' campaign to help unseat them if they don't respect the Second Amendment.

It's probably ill advised, but I am kinda pissed off about the whole thing.

After I donated, I read the Feinstein bill. Then I emailed her, politely, and asked her to reconsider. Not that it will any good, but just so she (or her staff more likely) knows that she has awakened yet another 2A guy.

I have a monthly auto-pay to the NRA-ILA set up in my online banking. I set it up last year. I also sent them an additional donation for the recent upsurge in anti 2nd Amendment upsurge. They need the money.

Money is tight for me right now (it always is at the beginning of each year) but my goal is to keep sending money orders for $25.00 each week to NRA-ILA. It's not like I can spend it on ammo anyway!!!

There is a push to have a more organized version of this on February 18th (Washington's Birthday).

So you may want to hold off, or you may want to chip in another $10 on the 18th. Your call. I am planning to donate again on the 18th myself.

The main thing is that every little bit makes a difference. $10 may not seem like much; but with 4.2 million NRA members, it makes a big, big statement. You don't need to donate a lot of money or put yourself in financial jeopardy in order to help out at this important juncture.

The more people who lend a hand and participate. The less each of us can give and still have a big impact.

I already donated to the NRA and renewed my membership for an added 2 years. However, I am mailing in my payment to the NRA-ILA because their website REQUIRES you to put in your phone number. Giving your name, address and email already gets me a ton of gun related junk mail and emails. I do not appreciate them having my phone number. If it was optional I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I am a faithful NRA member, but you may want to consider something more effective for a media bllitz. The NRA is too wimpy to really get the message across.

It would be better for form a super PAC which would have no "image" to protect.

It's time we start getting the real message out.

People like Biden and Feinstein are the real killers. They KNOW their gun control laws will result in more crime and they DON'T care.

It's time to start putting their faces in some ads and showing the public what these creeps want to do to our society. It's time to make it personal. They want guns to protect their sorry hides, but they fight tooth and nail to make sure our kids are totally unprotected with gun free zones and by harassing anyone who tries to make a difference.

Larry, if it is any consolation, I have donated through that website several times in the past and never received a single phone call - although I am on the NRA's no-marketing list as well as the Do-Not-Call list.

+1 for the idea of a super pac. It would be nice to shine the light on some of these cockroaches in our state and national capitals.

On the note that they require a phone number, I always put my NRA member #, my e-mail address but always just put a 555-xxxx phone number as I won't give them that. I've got family and friends that have had the misfortune of getting on their calling list. I know they're trying to raise money but no thanks on that.

Just sent another donation. As for the telephone number, I too have never received any calls from them (or an affiliate organization) but second the increased mail (both letter & e-mail). However, I feel that is a minor inconvenience for them representing a good cause.

I'm starting to feel like you tend to see the same people over and over again in these threads and far too few of them to be straight. I see far more activity in the price gouging threads or in stock alerts than I do here in activism. This confounds me given everything that is going on today.

Is there more that can be done by the owners and administrators of the forum to get people involved? I don't have any grand idea, it just seems like there is opportunity to put this more in people's faces who frequent the other areas.

Kind of thinking out loud here, not trying to bash the good folks running the site.

I donated as well.

There are a large number of people who bury their heads in the sand and will refuse to acknowledge the obvious until the State Police are pounding on the door, many of them gun owners.
All we can do is put the info out there.

Gave them 25 last month and am gonna make it a regular monthly routine to do 25 a month. Been an NRA member since the mid-eighties and a life member since 2000. Remember; this is politics, and money talks and B.S. walks.
