Trimming Other Cases to Make 223 Brass?

I read not long ago that there are a variety of brass that can be trimmed to form 308 cases - for example, .243, .270, 7x57, .30-06, etc. Here is the article:

I've never done that - I just reload 308 brass. But it's nice to have the option. I have hunting friends who've offered me brass in the past (30-06, 270) and I've declined out of ignorance because I don't shoot those calibers.

Well, .222 Remington Magnum maybe.
But that is harder to find then blond frog hair anymore.

The caseheads of all those calibers you listed is too big. That ain't gonna happen.

In the minimum, you need a case with the same size head and which is close to the same length or longer.

204 Ruger and 222 Remington Magnum might be long enough to form 223 Remington brass from.

But as RC said, they will be expensive when compared to 223 Remington cases. 204 Ruger is in short supply these days as well.

I do use 223 brass to make other calibers however.

.204 Ruger brass hasn't been common for the 5 years I've been loading for it.
