Which Scout Scope has the highest magnification available? Interested in one that can handle .308 rounds. Where is a good place to look at specs of various scopes?
Thanks for the help.

High magnification and scout scopes don't mix well.
Probably 2 1/2x (Leupold) or 2 3/4x (Burris) and 4x (weaver) is the highest power that will work well with the both eyes open, wide field of view the scout concept gives you.
I think Hi-Lux, BSA, and maybe Leapers make variables with more power, but?

Thanks rc. I was considering one of the Ruger Gunsite Scout rifles for longer range shooting, but like having iron sights if they be needed. So, whatever scout scope I used, it would be a "left eye closed" situation.

Leupold makes a variable 1.5x-4x IER optic - you order it out of their custom shop.

How much longer range?
If you're talking about several hundred yards you'll be much better off with a traditionally mounted scope than a forward mounted. For a back up sight, look at detachables or something like this (near the bottom of the page)

SWFA lists 2 different Leupold variable scout scopes.
Leatherwood has a 2-7.

Leatherwood 2-7 is commonly used in Scout applications.
