Guns in schools... an interesting perspective

I have two jr. high school age daughters in the local public school, so the prospect of some nut case pulling off a mass shooting strikes very close to home.

We live in a middle class bedroom community, where the school district enjoys a lot of support.... but what I really like about this school is that the principal and the asst. principal have a great good cop / bad cop gig going on, with the asst. principle (a former marine) being the guy who puts up with zero BS, and the principle being the jolly friendly guy. It doesn't hurt that the asst. principle also has final say over who gets to participate in the athletic programs.

So while my wife is waiting to pick up the kids today (they normally ride the bus, but today they had plans) and another parent, who obviously knows the asst. principal well, sees him and says "hey, I've got a question for your, but I don't want to shout it out".

So, Mrs. SSN Vet tunes in her big ears and overhears the guy ask the asst. principal what he thinks about pending legislation in the state to allow teachers to receive training and certification to carry a CCW in school. :uhoh:

The asst. principal didn't speak a reply, but rather, pulled out his wallet and showed the parent something there in. To which the parent smiles and nods his head knowingly.

Now what exaclty do you think mr. asst. principal showed him??? :D

The most reassuring thing any sane parent could see; the CCW permit of a Good Guy who will be in the building if a psycho attacks.

what do you think the chances are your "bad cop" former marine is only paying lip service to that "prohibition"?

I thank God I can carry almost anywhere I need or want to go. Just a plain, ordinary guy.

His CHCL, of course! I would have asked what sidearm he was carrying then, and if he planned to let teachers carry as well.
