I am a Michigan resident with cpl. I went to gun show in Indiana yesturday to get brass. Found a handgun I might buy. Seller is private but also a Michigan resident. Could I have printed RI60 and done transaction right there or would transaction have to be onMichigan soil??

Also are people with ffl's allowed to buy from residents from different States ftf???

I have no idea, but either case sounds legit to me. Residents of the same state no matter where they are at the moment and all. I also guess that an FFL can receive a firearm from anyone as long as it goes thru his books.

Shows how little I *know*, but I'd have called either good.

The transaction itself would be lawful, but you would commit a federal felony returning it to your home state.

(a) It shall be unlawful...
(3) for any person, other than a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, licensed dealer, or licensed collector to transport into or receive in the State where he resides (or if the person is a corporation or other business entity, the State where it maintains a place of business) any firearm purchased or otherwise obtained by such person outside that State, except that this paragraph (A) shall not preclude any person who lawfully acquires a firearm by bequest or intestate succession in a State other than his State of residence from transporting the firearm into or receiving it in that State, if it is lawful for such person to purchase or possess such firearm in that State, (B) shall not apply to the transportation or receipt of a firearm obtained in conformity with subsection (b)(3) of this section, and (C) shall not apply to the transportation of any firearm acquired in any State prior to the

Because you're residents of the same state, he can lawfully sell it to you and you can lawfully buy it, but you can't take it home with you.

We're safer this way ... right? :scrutiny:

Well, yes, that would change the picture a little -- but would introduce another problem! If he's currently residing in IN, and his buddy is from MI, that's an interstate transfer.

So both he AND his pal would have to have legal residences in both states!
