Trigger Question - Desert Eagle

I completely disassembled my Mk XIX Desert Eagle yesterday. Magnum Research or IWI, whoever built it, used some pretty thick oil inside of it. I soaked all the small parts in clp and then used rem oil to clean out the frame.

After alot of frustration putting the trigger and slide release back in I tested everything to make sure it worked. The safety stopped the hammer from releasing, the slide traveled back and forth without a hitch, but when I turned the safety off and pulled the trigger it felt extremely gummy. I had just cleaned everything out, I only used grease on the slide and wiped everything else dry.

The desert eagle comes with a trigger adjustment that I tightened all the way down. Now the trigger is much heavier, but crisper as well. Its almost comparable to the DA pull on my Model 19.

So... my questions are - what SHOULD be the pull on my desert eagle? I have no means of testing it from home, but It feels like it is somewhere in the 8 pound range AND what could I have done to make the trigger feel so bad?

I'll try firing it again next week to see If I screwed anything else up and then consult my gunsmith if I did (my only real worry is the extractor). Lesson learned - if your manual doesn't cover a particular topic - there is most likely a reason.

You have it backward. Consult your gunsmith before firing it, unless you like having an expensive paperweight.

Yeah i put that poorly - the gunsmith works at the range I shoot at. I'll stop by him first.
