I'm thinking about getting a side saddle for my Remington 870 express. After reading some reviews I want to go for the 4 round side saddle so I don't have to change out the forearm. I know the tacstar 4 round does not interfere with the standard forearm, but I cannot find out if the mesa tactical does.

Does anyone know if it will fit? Or can you post pics of your 4 round saddle so I can see where it fits? Thanks!

You could also look at the esstac velcro side saddles. Haven't used them yet, but plan to try them out shortly.

Either will work fine. The Tac-Star is less expensive and IMO just as good. The Mesa Tactical Urbino stock is THE tactical stock to own though.

I don't know the differences between the Tac-Star for the 870 but the differences between the two for the 500 were more than enough for me to go the Mesa route. First off, build quality is much better and is probably why they cost twice as much. For instance, Tac-Star just gives a screw that replaces the trigger pin. Mesa gives you a hollow trigger pin that excepts a screw from the other end. This way, your trigger pin is still smooth. The Mesa is all aluminum and has no chances of wearing out or breaking if dropped. It's just a more solid unit. You also get two options depending on how strong or light you want it to hold your shells. I had no problem spending $60 on the Mesa. That is what our department uses and I know many others that use them. There is a reason for that.

The TacStar works very well.
