Revolutionary War Veterans Association invites President Obama to share his respect for American tradition of marksmanship at Appleseed

Written By: Bob Ownens @ - Jan • 27•13

This weekend I was honored to be asked to officially contribute to the Appleseed Project as a member of their public relations team. I was empowered by the Revolutionary War Veterans Association founder Jack Dailey to do what I do best as a writer.

As my first official act, I am thrilled this evening to extend an public invitation to President Barack Obama to share American heritage and marksmanship at an Appleseed Project event on April 20-21 of this year as we celebrate the 238th anniversary of the “Shot heard ’round the world.”

You can read a copy of the press release, which was inspired by the President’s recently shared tradition of shooting.

January 27, 2013 - Ramseur, NY- To share in President Barack Obama’s admiration for the American tradition of shooting, the Revolutionary War Veterans Association (RWVA) is honored to invite him to share in American heritage and marksmanship at an Appleseed Project event during the weekend of April 20-21 at the RWVA home range in Ramseur, North Carolina.

U.S. President Barack Obama recently confirmed his admiration for the American tradition of sport sporting, and partakes in “skeet shooting all the time,” at the presidential retreat in Camp David, as recorded in a UK Telegraph article by Jon Swaine.

Project Appleseed is an activity of The Revolutionary War Veterans Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, dedicated to teaching every American our shared heritage and history as well as traditional rifle marksmanship skills. Our volunteer instructors travel across the country teaching those who attend about the difficult choices, the heroic actions, and the sacrifices that the Founders made on behalf of modern Americans, all of whom are their “progeny.”

Our heritage program vividly portrays the Battles of Lexington and Concord with the kind of care and immediacy that is absent from most formal schooling. Modern listeners are confronted with the danger, the fear, and the heartbreaking separations that arose out of the choices made on April 19th, 1775. They are also reminded of the marksmanship skills and masterful organization that ultimately helped set the colonists on the path to success. Those who attend gain a better understanding of the fundamental choices faced by our ancestors as they began to set the stage for the nation we now enjoy.

The RWVA is a CMP affiliated organization, and participation in one of their two-day clinics satisfies 1/3 of the requirements for having an M1 Garand sent directly to your door at half the retail cost!

Pre-registration cost: $80 per weekend. One day events and other special events may differ.

Reduced rates are offered for women, under 18, Active Duty Military, Law Enforcement Officers, Elected Officials, and Revolutionary War Re-enactors. All prices subject to change. Further information, including directions, start times and what to bring can be found on their website: Rifles and ammunition are not supplied.

Appleseed is a project of the Revolutionary War Veterans Association (RWVA), a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. Founded in 2006, RWVA is a 100% volunteer organization committed to bringing the very best of traditional rifle marksmanship skills and the story of April 19th, 1775, to each and every American. To that end, they are conducting over 400 Appleseed events across the country, with an estimated 15,000 students this year alone.

The secret service will have a great day if he somehow accepted (maybe signed it thinking it was a lawrestricting American's to revolutionary war weapons only...).

I think that he is golfing that weekend.

January 28, 2013, 04:54 PM
Maybe he'll send his Secretary of State instead.

Very cool

"sport sporting".... I hope that wasn't in the actual release. (sigh)

He will not attend such an event because of his political agenda and security reasons.

The S.S. (Secret Service... you gotta laugh at the irony) is not going to bring a President, especially Obama anywhere near an event with armed citizens. Also, if they DID try and do it for somekind of B.S. photo-op or other garbage, it would ruin the event for all the legitimate participants and spectators.

No. He'll send Joe instead.

I hope they make him sit through a history lesson. He didn't get that in Indonesia.

I know that it is meant as a joke BUT I do really question how "in touch" or "appreciative" of the United States of America, can be with the upbringing and education he received as a child. I guess we are seeing the anwser.....
