The truth comes out; the gun control agenda is to totally disarm Americans. So much for his oath to support and defend the Constitution.

EXACTLY!

This why we MUST fight and refuse any further restrictions on firearms or any other civil liberties!

People need to realize that in the grand scheme of things the military and (the majority of) law enforcement serve the government not the actual citizens.

They are well funded, well equipped and follow orders from those that sign their paychecks.

(Your taxes "technically" pay them BUT if you think at this point it matters, you're only kidding yourself.)

The truth comes out; It has been "out" for a long time, but any time they say it out loud it helps us with the "slippery slope" answers to those who do not believe that is the end result the antis want.

Don't take them lightly. Might even try to pass a confiscation law. It happens.

Americans can never be disarmed. Once they lose the freedom to have total responsibilty for themselves, they lose the "american" and become subjects as the rest of the world is.

InkEd - Don't be too quick to put all LEOs or Military in the anti-gun corner. I can assure you that where I am from, the vast majority are strongly pro-2nd Amendment.

Most street level cops I've met are for citizens with guns. The cops who are typically anti's are the political appointees, like the police chiefs of liberal cities who toe the party line. A police chief can sit as his desk in his fortress with his unfired pistol on his hip and do paperwork and photo ops, and never put himself in harm's way like the rank and file cops. When/ if it comes to confiscation, who do you think will be hanging their butts out, the Chiefs or the rank and file?

this guy needs to lose his job......not because i disagree with his political opinions....

....but because if he honestly believes americans can be completely disarmed in "a generation".....he:

1) obviously lacks any practical police experience and has no business being a police chief.

2) lacks any and all mental reasoning ability......and has no business being a police chief.

LOL, seriously, give ...ONE... ...SINGLE... example of a country where any regime has been able to "take all the guns off the streets". Even if he comes up with an example, then it's a trick question.

Particularly ironic that the chief of police in a city that borders Mexico would publicly subscribe to the delusion that you can legislate guns out of existence in America. His department and other area law enforcement aren't exactly winning that war on drugs or illegal immigration, so why would he want to jump into another quagmire?

I can't come up with one.

A generation from now, if America is disarmed, the Republic of Texas will still be bristling with guns. A crack is forming, and it's idiots like this that keep trying to drive a wedge into it, too stupid to realize that they'll end up pushing somebody to desperation, and idiocy will fracture my parents' America before I can hand it safely to my children still intact.

I fear this. People worry me.

No, I did not serve in the military. DQ'ed for service because of messed-up kidneys. Tried the Navy literally about 3 months after my first surgery at 21yrs old. (Kind of sad for me, one of very few in my family not serve and not by my choice.)

I have alot of respect for those that serve honorably.

If things got to the point of nationwide confiscation, MANY military personnel WOULD either divide or desert upon receiving such an order.

The majority of REMAINING people would simply follow orders and do as they are told by their superiors. This could because they are INTENTIONALLY GIVEN MISINFORMATION BY THE AFOREMENTIONED SUPERIORS.

I am not talking about ALL law enforcement. The regular beat cops for the most part are good people and deserve credit for what they do. However, I think most will agree that the chiefs of police in many large metro areas are closer to being politicians than actual cops who perform their civil duties.

Sadly, they are the ones in charge of giving the orders to the regular guys (and gals) on the street. Just like the military many will refuse the orders and simply quit and again those that remain will not be the ones you really want doing the job.

Here is a MAJOR underlying problem in our country:

The Federal government has MADE the individual states OVERLY DEPENDENT on them for both finance and defensive puposes. The Federal government has grown so large (as an entity), its powers so over-reaching (into what should be states issues), has influence of private industry (auto an wall-street bail-outs) that it really NO LONGER needs the support of the GENERAL population. Rather, all that is required is to have people PRIMARILY in APPOINTENTED positions to strong arm DESIRED policies through any opposition by cutting off funding or aid in other areas.

The educational, utility, and transportation systems rely heavily on money rationed out by the FEDERAL government. The National Guard (a good group of people who really care about their country) are funded, supplied and controlled by the FEDERAL government. There are few (if any) actual organized state militias anymore. ALL that WE HAVE is ourselves (as citizens) to insure our rights. Those are all facts!

The Founding Fathers understood all these things and dealt with them during the formation of this Republic.

Now going somewhat into tin-foil hat territory....

One would hope (and IMO in some of the better states they would) that if things ever started to breakdown from the Federal government passing too many unjust laws (IMO national confiscation could be an example of such), the state and local LE communities would fill the role of a makeshift state militia with the help of citizen volunteers. Like I said, this starts to get into the obscure and hopefully unlikely stuff territory... so I'm not really going to go on about it anymore than what had already been discussed.

-Ed

P.S. I do truly believe that a national registry (even if not initially) will be used at some point for confiscation or at least monitoring purposes. This based on the history of nearly every single nationwide weapons registry in the last 100 years.

I am in federal law enforcement and I can assure you that 90% of the agents in my agency are pro-firearm and pro-2nd amendment. It is the politicians like elected sheriff's and police chiefs appointed by politicians that are anti gun.

Let's see their track record.

Prohibition. Nope.
Marijuana. Nope.
Heroin. Nope.
LSD. Nope.
Cocaine. Nope.
Meth. Nope.

Let's get away from alcohol and drugs and let's look at violent crime.

Ghettos safer. Nope.
King Riots. Nope.
Gang killings. Nope.

Heck, they can't even prevent crime in jails or prisons and they're an even more controlled environment.

Most line level LEOs are pro-2A too. As mentioned, it's the political appointees who are anti-2A, anti-self defense.

That's the CAWB end game that no-ne talks about.

"We're not saying that we're gonna take away your guns, we're sayin' after a particular date you can't buy anymore."

Meaning... through attrition, within one generation, all the restricted firearms will be out of California because when you; die, are declared incompetent, become a felon, cease to be a California citizen or choose to get rid of the firearm it must either leave the state, be turned in or sold to a CAWB registered FFL for out of state sale.

Now, when these jack-wagons convince America to lay the CAWB and now the NYAWB over America - it's one generation for anything listed.

This guy apparently is, to put it nicely, not very good at his job and is facing a lot of pressure to retire. Looks like an obvious attempt to retain his position. Sickening.

Police in metropolitan and urban areas are probably less enthusiastic about citizens owning guns IMHO. More crime happens in densley populated cities, couple that with a police force the size of a small army (and in some cases armed as well as one too.)
When populations get that big the relationship between officer and citizen is much different than say in a rural community of 2000 vs. A 2,000,000 people metropolis.

Off that tangent and to the thread, I'm afraid ol' pinkosheriff may have a shard of truth in his words. Unfortunatley in today's day and age of media worship, Internet junkies, smartphone hypnosis, reality tv, idolatry of fake people and zero tolerance zones; things are only going downhill. When an agenda is being pushed, it is really just crammed down your throat and pounded in your head. The future generation will be more susceptible to advertisements and current trending due to technology. In about 50 years independant thought will be considered a primitive trait humans evolved past. I really feel like reading some Welles or Hainline after that rant.

The vast majority, if not every single one of Chicago Policemen (100+ friends and family, active and retired, including my entire immediate family) I know feel citizens should own guns for self-defense. And I have been told by many of them most of the rank-and-file feel the same way.

Ronald Reagan said we are always just one generation from losing our freedoms. I never doubted that.
