I'm interested in learning more about the physics and mechanics behind ballistics and firearms. Things like ballistic coefficients, bullet shape, how spin rates effect flights. Also the theory and mechanical side of long range shooting, the Coriolis effect, effects of wind, temperature, humidity, etc on bullet flights etc. I know I can just Google a lot of the basic physics and assorted topics individually, but I'm wondering if there are any good books published that are just about firearms and ballistic physics and mechanics that would talk about these kind of things in one place, and from the firearm perspective. Anyone have any suggestion?

Applied Ballistics for long range shooting by Bryan Litz is a good read. I found it to be very much worth the $50 I paid for it.
Be forewarned, the man's day job was as a real rocket scientist. He spent his career - after being a pilot in WWII - studying trajectories of nuclear missles and artillery shells. He worked at Sandia National Labs.
He was interested in rifle accuracy and performed empirical testing and extensive statistical analysis, etc.

'Understanding Firearms Ballistics' is a pretty good book..
