Went down to the LGS that still has guns to sell, shopping for a .22lr pistol to teach my grandkids with. I was thinking M&P or SR22. Sitting in amongst the .22s was a Browning 1911 .22, like a diamond among pearls...a substantial price kump from the others, but I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. It took half an hour to get waited on, but I pick it up Feb. 5th!

OUTSTANDING.

There is nothing cooler than being able to fire a pistol 'just like Grandpa's'

But be ready for them to make the jump to your .45 faster than you'd suspect.

... you *do* have a 1911 in .45ACP, right?

Two of 'em! Even though they've been replaced in my CCW rotation, they are still outstanding shooters.

That scaled-down 1911 will fit my 11-yo grandson's hands just right, I think.

Bass Pro in Columbia has one.

What you pay, if you don't mind?

Used the ole "for the grandson" several times already. The first couple of times it actually worked. The way I see it,,,he will get them all someday anyway.

I tried to tell my dad I was buying a rifle for the grandkids.

Apparently you need to be a little older than 22 for people to start believing it. :D

That Browning is a great gun, for sure.

Great little gun. Perfect for kid-sized hands and fits pretty well in my paws too. It usually goes to the range with me; my wife tried it out for the first time today and it put a big ol' grin on her face.

$585 here in central California. I could have saved a little at Bud's, but I like to shop local when possible.

That's not a bad price as I have seen them locally for $599. A bit overpriced for my wallet, but since it's for the grandkids it's perfectly justifiable. I hope they like it and that it makes the transition to the full size version all the more intuitive and enjoyable.

It was considerably more than the others I was considering, but I consider it a "heirloom" gun - one my sons will fight over when I'm gone. I suspect I'll be leaving it to the oldest grandson....
